TAG 5th Grade Week 5 Assignment

Directions: You will be participating in a simulation of a disease outbreak in a small town.

Each week you will receive items to read that will further your understanding of the outbreak.

These readings will include emails from Dr. Billman (leading the case) and Contagious Disease

Reports (CDCs) describing the patients of the disease. It will be up to you to put the clues

together to solve the mystery disease and heal the patients.

Step 1: Read the Mystery Disease background information and take notes on the 5 Ws and H

(who, what, when, where, why, how).

Step 2: Use the symptoms described in the background info to guide your research on the most

common bacteria and viruses.

Step 3: Complete the Mystery Disease Hypothesis chart. On this chart you will record your top

3 most likely disease in our scenario. At the bottom you will record your hypothesis for which

disease you think has caused the outbreak. We will discuss this as a class on our next Teams

Chat.
