Summary Tahj Rosmarin is a graduate of the Bachelor of Architectural Design from the University of Queensland and a current student of the Master of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Since graduating in 2012, Tahj has gained experience working on a varied collection of design proposals; ranging from small- scale residential projects, to large scale urban design work. Through these experiences Tahj has gained skills and abilities ranging from presentation to working drawings. • 2014 India Imprint: Auroville

I was an active member of a team made up of students, architects and urban designers led by Pro-fessor Luis Feduchi in Auroville, South India. Commissioned by the Auroville TDC (Town Development Council), Professor Feduchi and this team were responsible for the completion of a Detailed Devel-opment Plan of the Residential Zone, sectors 1 & 2. During my time in Auroville, I was responsible for, partook in and/or completed the following tasks:

• The development and detailing of the proposed ‘Green Corridor’ network for Residential Zone, sectors 1 & 2.

• The development and detailing of proposed ‘Urban Nodes’• The mapping and design of infrastructure related to mobility (cycle paths, walking paths, etc)• Identifying existing building design guidelines that could be legitimised into building by-laws.• A meeting alongside Professor Feduchi and his team and Chief Planner Prashant Hedao, with

esteemed Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi in Ahmedabad on the 3rd of January 2014.

I have worked as an architectural student at parvenu architectural... since April 2013. Since working for the firm, I have made models, compiled tender documents, created design drawings and mod-elled using Archicad and Sketchup.

• 2013 Kevin O’Brien Architects©: Student Architect

I worked at Kevin O’Brien Architects since February 2013. During my time at the firm, I have made models, compiled design concept documents and briefly compiled documentation packages (spefifi-cally joinery details) using Autocad and Sketchup.

• 2014 Luis Feduchi Architect©: Architectural Assistant

I have completed an internship in Auroville, South India under the guise of Professor Luis Feduchi for the Auroville Town Development Council. Alongside a team under Luis’ supervision, we were respon-sible for the output of a Detailed Development Plan for Residential Zone 1 and 2. I hand-sketched, used AutoCad, Photoshop and Illustrator.

• 2014 Archipelago Architects©: Student Architect

I worked at Archipelago Architects from March to June 2014. During this time I helped compile a documentation set for an ongoing project, created concept design models and helped with office tasks. I used Sketchup, MicroStation and Autocad.

• 2013-2015 Kieron Gait Architects©: Student Architect

I worked at Kieron Gait Architects since September 2013 until presently. The work I have mainly been a part of has involved creating presentation models, competition entries, documentation and site visits. I used Sketchup, Archicad, Photoshop and hand-modelling/drawing.

P r o f f e s s i o n a l A c t i v i t i e s• 2012 Architectus: Student Mentorship

I have completed a Mentorship Scheme with the Australian firm Architectus on behalf of the Austra-lian Institute of Architects and SONA. This mentorship was very useful in uncovering what architec-tural practices actually do and how student architects integrate within the workplace.

• 2012 AIA Conference 2012 Volunteer

I volounteered at the Australian Institute of Architects Conference in Brisbane in 2012. Alongside a team of volunteers, we were responsible for the construction of the stage, designed by Brisbane firm PHAB Architects.

• 2013 Bark Architects ‘Floating Land’ Exhibit: Volunteer

I worked as part of a team of students and Bark Lab to create and manufacture elements for Bark Architect’s exhibiton at Floating Land Festival 2013. The entire process was extremely rewarding by allowing me to gain a small understanding of how small practice studios operate.

• 2013 Peter Rich Architect: Drawing Workshop

I was a member of a selective drawing workshop run by South African architect Peter Rich. The workshop was held at the Edge, State Library of Queensland, and focused upon hand-drawing.

• 2014 Tutoring: Queensland University of Technology

I was asked to act as a studio critiquer/adviser for First Year Architectural Design students at the Queensland University of Technology. I found the opportunity a wholly enjoyable and refl ective expe-rience- I felt that it heightened my own awareness of my relation to architectural design.

• 2014 Tutoring: University of Queensland

I acted as a studio critiquer/adviser for Third Year Architectural Design mid-semester critiques at the University of Queensland. The studio, named ‘Residual Operations’ was led by Jonothan Kopinski of ‘Fehlberg Park’ and I-wen Kuo of ‘RIDe’.

C o m p e t i t i o n E n t r i e s• 2012 Superstudio: SONA

w/ James Connor, Thomas Mclaughlin

I participated in SONA Superstudio as part of the University of Queensland. The intensive 24 hour design charette was extremely challenging yet rewarding at the same time.

• 2012 ‘Sukkahville’: Sukkahville w/ Doron Rosmarin

The aim of this open competition was to design a temporary, free-standing Sukkah to be built in Mel Lastman Square in Toronto on the eve of the holiday of Sukkot. Participants were encouraged to re-imagine the traditional notion of Sukkah, with a contemporary design language and approach. The design that resulted attempts to represent the essence of a sukkah as a simple free-standing shelter.

• 2013 Bondi Container-House: AACA w/ Thomas Mclaughlin, Qun Zhang, Estelle Peter

At the end of 2013, Thomas, Qun, Estelle and I entered the AACA Bondi Container House compe-tition. After studying the site and surrounding context, the concept of creating a ‘watch-tower’ or ‘lighthouse’ became a key element of the design. A central courtyard hugged the base of the ‘core’, also connecting major living spaces together.

S k i l l s a n d A b i l i t i e sI am profi cent in Sketchup and Archicad, and competent in Autocad. At current, I am familiarising myself Rhino and Revit.

I am extremely confi dent in using the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and use it most frequently.

I can also use all programs in the Microsoft Offi ce Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). I am well trained in model making and thoroughly enjoy hand drawing and sketching.

Kieron Gait is a registered Architect with fourteen years of professional experience in Australia. He has been involved with a broad range of projects both in previous employment and as principal of Kieron Gait Architects. Typologies range from single residences through resort design to large mixed use development. He has been involved in a number of award winning projects, including Balmoral Residence, winner of the Hayes and Scott award for Small Project Architecture at the 2010 AIA Queensland state awards.

Andrew Wilson is an architect and lecturer in the School of Architecture. In 2005 he edited the book Hayes & Scott: post-war houses published by the University of Queensland Press. His research interest lies in local archi-tectural culture of the mid-twentieth century. Chris Landorf is a Senior Lecturer and registered architect. She holds postgraduate qualifications in business management and facility management and is due to complete a PhD on the sustainable management of complex heritage sites in November 2009. She was awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Citation for Outstand-ing Contributions to Student Learning in 2007. Chris has been Chapter President and Council Member of the Australian Institute of Architects, member of the Architects Board of South Australia, Chair of the Association of Architecture Schools of Australasia, and a member of National Course Recognition and Accreditation Panels.

Luis Feduchi is a practicing architect. His office, founded in Madrid in 1993 and relocated to Berlin in 2006, has won various awards and competitions, such as the design of the Carmen del Negro Historic Archives of Granada, Spain. From 2004 to 2006 he was Coordinator of the Master of Advanced Studies of Architecture of the Terri-tory at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland. In 2006 he was appointed Chair of Urban Design at the TU Berlin. Among other academic positions he has been Visiting Professor at Penn Design, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia in 2010 and Roland Rainer Chair for Architectural Research and Design at the Acad-emy of Arts in Vienna in 2011. He was formerly Chair of Architectural Design, Master of Architecture Program Director and Director of ROAD, Centre for Research on Architectural Design, at The University of Queensland.
