TAILINGS & WATER CURRENT PROJECTS : WATER TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF VALUES
RECOVERY OF VALUES
Recover value components from tailingsproduced by copper mining companies, bydeveloping and/or adapting technologiestechnically and economically viable, andensuring waste disposal is chemically andphysically stable.
TAILINGS WATER TREATMENT
Zero liquid discharge: by capturing and treatinginfiltrations, under existing conditions andpost-closure, including interaction withsurface water.
Treatment and neutralisation of tailings beforedisposal and potential industrial use of tailings.

ONLINE RHEOMETER - DMH (CSIRO)
DATA ANALYSIS
CHARACTERISATION & PILOT
ON-SITE TESTING
Analyse the behaviour of DMH tailings thickeners
Assess if it is feasible to install an iOR in one of MinistroHales Division tailings thickeners
Analyse thickener design and its key components
Analyse plant data to study if iOR is applicable to DMH
Field visit to gather pending information and talk to key DMH personnel
Goal: online rheology to control thickeners not only based on Cp but also rheology.

OVERVIEW
Basic cause: organisational.
“The shortcoming is
not in the state of
knowledge, but rather
in the efficacy with
which that knowledge
is applied. Therefore,
efforts moving
forward should
focus on improved
implementation
and verification of
controls, rather than
restatement of them.”Catastrophic Failures:
