METZ CONNECT is participating in this development and is offering you a tailor-made system for connection

technology in rail-mounted devices: up-to-date push-in technology for nearly all PC board arrangements in different

housings. The different possibilities of combining rail-mounted housings with terminal block housings and contact

sets create a high flexibility with regard to design and equipment of rail-mounted devices.

Another benefit of this system: the METZ CONNECT contact sets allow the use of connection geometries up to a

cross section of 2.5 mm² and 2x2.5 mm² with wire end sleeve with up to three connections per potential.

Rail-mounted devices are getting more and more individual due to the product design on the market. To comply

with this development towards customer-specific rail-mounted devices METZ CONNECT offers a modular system

consisting of device housings, terminal block housings and contact sets. This development comes together with a

technical change of the connection technology in rail-mounted devices.

Change of connection technology in rail-mounted devicesConnection technology of rail-mounted devices used in building automation was characterized for decades by screw-

type terminal blocks. As to connection technology with regard to contact security and connection friendliness the

understanding of device manufacturers is moving towards spring clamp technology.

Therefore the industry decides more and more for push-in technology when it is about to advance or update rail-

mounted devices. The push-in technology is offering an extremely high user-friendliness by the fast and tool-free

cable connection. The practical experience of installers shows that the time needed for spring clamp wire connection

is reduced by 50 % compared to screw-type technology. Furthermore, contact security is guaranteed even under

vibration as spring and wire are permanently in contact.

The three variants matrixMETZ CONNECT is offering three flexible variants for a customized and tailor-made connection solution for

rail-mounted devices:

Customized solution:You provide METZ CONNECT your rail-mounted housing and your connection specifications. METZ CONNECT

designs and produces a suitable housing with contact set for the spring clamp terminal block; tailored to your rail-

mounted housing.

METZ CONNECT solution:You use a rail-mounted housing and a complete spring clamp terminal block made by METZ CONNECT. But with this

solution, too, it is possible to produce a customized spring clamp terminal block with a METZ CONNECT contact set.

Standard solution:You use a commercially available unequipped housing for rail-mounted devices. METZ CONNECT offers you the

possibility to equip this housing with a complete METZ CONNECT spring clamp terminal block or you have a specific

terminal block housing designed for the desired METZ CONNECT contact set.

Flexible solutions for tailor-made connection technology Technically, the concept provides different solutions by the variant diversity of the terminal block housings. The

PC boards can be differently positioned inside the devices, and the different terminal block housings wire allow for

variable wire entries.
