China and India need enormous amounts of coal. Very soon, coal demand will be exceeding oil demand –worldwide, with significant impact on global climate.

o From 2017, coal consumption will exceed oil consumption: coal will be more important than oil

o In the U.S.A., shale gas redefines the energy sector, but coal consumption still high due to

economic growth

o The switch from gas to coal in Europe reaches its climax in 2013. Thereafter, coal consumption will

focus predominantely on Turkey

o China overtakes the rest of the world in coal consumption

o India becomes largest coal importer

o Indonesia and Australia are the largest coal exporters

Coal Gasification is needed and remains a key facilitator for clean coal usage.
