و تن وانوان ساكThe rules of Noon Saakin and Tanween are studied together because the sound for both of these is the same.

Tanween is the addition of an “n” or “ ن ” sound at the end of a word

(that has a Fathah, Kasrah, or Dhammah) to make the “an”, “in” or “un” sound and comes at the end of the word (noon is not written).

Recall that Noon Saakinah means a letter noon ( ن/ن ) that does not have any

vowel sign on it or has a Sukoon on it.

Noon Saakin can be in the middle of the word or at the end of the word.

When the letter ب comes after Noon Saakinah ( ن ) or Tanween , then change

the Noon sound to a Meem sound. Hide the Noon sound and read the Meem with Ghunnah (2 counts).

The letter ب can come immediately after Noon Saakinah in the same word or in two

separate words. The Tanween only comes at the end of a word.

This means that it is possible for Noon Saakinah (or Tanween) to come at the end of

one word and the letter ب to appear at the start of the next word.
