Check UnderstandingWhat number card and 10-frame match 7?
What You Need• 10-Frame Cards 2–9
• Number Cards 2–9
• Recording Sheet
What You Do1. Stack the number cards facedown and spread out the
10-frame cards faceup in rows.
2. Take turns. Take the top number card and find the 10-frame with that number.
3. Your partner checks your work.
4. If you are right, you keep both cards.
5. Draw a line on the Recording Sheet to match the number and the 10-frame.

What You Need• 10 counters
• 2 crayons, a different color for each child
• 10-Frame Workmat
• Recording Sheet
What You Do1. Take turns. Pick a number on the Recording Sheet.
2. Show that number with counters on the 10-frame. Then draw to show that number differently on the Recording Sheet.
3. Have your partner check your work.
4. Each partner takes four turns.

What You Need• Picture Cards 1–10
• Recording Sheet for each child
What You Do1. Shuffle the cards. Give each partner the same number of cards.
Stack them facedown.
2. Turn over the top card at the same time as your partner.
3. Count and compare the number of objects on the two cards.
4. If you have the greater number of objects on your card, say, “____ is more than ___.” Keep both cards and write the numbers to complete the sentence on your Recording Sheet.
5. Play until one partner’s Recording Sheet is complete. The player with more cards wins.

Play again. This time the player with the card that has fewer objects takes the cards.

What You Do1. Shuffle the cards. Place them facedown.
2. Take turns. Pick a card.
3. Compare your number to 4 on the Recording Sheet. Say if your number is more than, less than, or the same as 4.
4. Have your partner use counters to check your work.
5. Color the number on the Recording Sheet red if your number is more than 4. Color it blue if your number is less than 4. Circle the number if it is the same as 4.
6. Play again by comparing numbers to 6.
Go Further!
Play ”I am thinking of a number.” Think of a number from 1 through 10. Your partner asks “more than” or “less than” questions to find your number.
What You Do
