Take the Spotlight!October 15 – December 7

This time of year may feel like a three-ring circus. But rest assured your Mutual of Omaha roustabouts are here

to help you become the main attraction.

During this phase, please take a minute to see how we can help you prepare to take center ring in this annual sales opportunity.

Thank you for choosing Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplements.

Oct. 1: Begin submitting applications with a Jan. 1 effective date.

M28466_0917 For producer use only. Not for use with the general public.

Every year from Oct. 15–Dec. 7, people enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) plans have the right to disenroll from their current plan and select a new MA plan or return to Original Medicare and purchase a Medicare supplement plan. It’s also when MA organizations can discontinue their plans in an area leaving members looking for health coverage.

• Two-day processing with e-Apps. Applies to guaranteed issue, open enrollment and underwritten applications (if applicant is available for interview)

• Decision on policy issue generally within five days

• 80 percent of e-Apps are reviewed within 20 minutes of Mutual of Omaha receiving them

• Voice amendments used for some missing or unclear information on paper apps

Beginning Oct. 1, you may submit applications with a Jan. 1, 2018 effective date.

Marketing

COMBAT THE MA MEDIA BLITZ

These Med supp prospecting and sales materials help you find and educate people about your product.

5 Reasons to Choose a Medicare Supplement Plan brochure and letter – Great in areas where Medicare Advantage organizations are leaving town or are ramping up advertising, these pieces help you present your product’s benefits compared with other health plans.

We’ve got you covered. Go Play! postcard, flyer, ad, self-mailer – All feature Med supp plans/rates you choose and your contact information.

To place an order, call Sales Support, (800) 693-6083, or go through your normal channels. Pieces are shipped within five days of request.

Products

Among all the reasons you might offer Mutual of Omaha Med supp – personal customer service, ability to pay claims, more than 50 years of market experience, etc. – saving your clients money now and over time is probably the most important. You know first hand they want predictable out-of-pocket costs and premium changes. Take a look at these key selling points related to our product’s value.

Mutual of Omaha Plan G

Plan F may be the most popular plan among Medicare supplement owners, but many of them may be overpaying for one Plan F benefit that they could pay themselves.

You can help people avoid paying more than necessary with our Plan G.

Side by side, Plans F and G include the same benefits, except Plan G doesn’t pay the Part B deductible. It’s the perfect solution when an applicant is willing to pay the calendar-year Part B deductible out-of-pocket ($183 in 2017).

Compare plans and premiums in your area, and create an example to make the point with your clients.

Cost-saving Plans High Deductible F and N

Both plans could be an option for people coming off Med Advantage plans and would like the benefits of a Medicare supplement – no provider network, predictable out-of-pocket costs, nationwide coverage, guaranteed renewable – at the lowest monthly premium.

The High Deductible Plan F policy deductible ($2,200 in 2017) is doable for many people who want all the benefits of Plan F at a significantly reduced premium from other plans.

Anniversary Rating

Your new-business clients can expect just one rate adjustment a year occurring on the policy anniversary date. That’s great peace of mind for them and you.

12 Percent Household Discount with Easy Eligibility

More people are qualifying for our 12 percent household discount because it has one of the least restrictive eligibility requirements.

Currently available in 31 states, this gives you even more opportunities to offer the best price on the market.

An applicant qualifies for our 12 percent discount when he/she:

• Lives with a spouse or civil union/domestic partner of any age, or

• Has lived with an adult age 60 or older for the last 12 months

Our 7 percent discount applies in 10 states and a handful of others don’t have any household discount.

Check a state’s application for specific eligibility requirements.

For your convenience, the Med supp e-App and mobile quote app have the household discount option.

Find outlines of coverage, the e-App and sales materials on Sales Professional Access, mutualofomaha.com/broker. Contact Sales Support, (800) 693-6083, with questions.

Stress Relievers

You can avoid the season’s headaches by knowing and doing a few simple things:

CONFIRM YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION ON FILE

Don’t miss an app status email or policy delivery. Before the surge, confirm your email and mailing addresses on mutualofomaha.com/broker, “Support” tab, or call Sales Support, (800) 693-6083.

USE THE MED SUPP MOBILE QUOTE APP

Rates where and when you want them. Download the app to your smartphone or tablet. Search “Quotes for Sales Professionals” in the Apple Store or Google Play.

SUBMIT MED SUPP E-APPS

It’s the easiest and fastest way to policy issue. Underwriting rules are baked in! Open enrollment, guaranteed issue and underwritten apps come in with no or minimal follow up. Most issue the same day received. And, you can write dental insurance at the same time.

Not using it? No problem. Play with the Sandbox e-App before submitting business on the live e-App. Go to mutualofomaha.com/broker, home page, select “Electronic Applications” below “Sales Tools.”

ATTACH PROOF OF DISENROLLMENT TO PAPER AND E-APPS

For Med supp sales to people leaving MA plans, you:

1. Complete the MA section on the Medicare supplement application.

2. Send one of the following with the application:

• A copy of the applicant’s MA plan’s disenrollment notice

• A copy of the letter the applicant sent to the MA plan requesting disenrollment (dated Oct. 15 or after), or

• A signed statement that the applicant has requested to be disenrolled from the MA plan

e-App: To submit PDFs of the necessary documentation, click “Attach Eligibility Documents.”

FAX DOCUMENTATION AFTER APP SUBMISSION

If the required documentation isn’t available when you send the application, simply:

1. Obtain the policy number from the Case Monitoring Report or the Med Supp e-App dashboard.

2. Write the policy number on the documentation.

3. Fax it to (402) 997-1920.

KNOW THE GI SITUATIONS

Applicants will be underwritten unless they’re in a guaranteed issue situation as listed in the 2017 Guide to Health Insurance for People with Medicare, pages 22-23. The e-App determines this for you.

REASSURE POLICYHOLDERS WITH POSTCARD

Pre-empt your Med supp policyholders’ questions – and retain the business – by sending them this postcard. It tells them to do nothing during this period to keep their Med supp coverage. Order Important Information about Your Medicare Supplement (26029) through normal channels.

STAY IN TOUCH WITH ONLINE REPORTS

Manage your business activity through your Mutual of Omaha online reports. Case Monitoring reports and the others are on mutualofomaha.com/broker, “Reports” tab.

Additional Coverages Fill Gaps

DENTAL INSURANCE AND OPTIONAL VISION CARE RIDER

Medicare doesn’t pay for visits to the dentist. But Mutual of Omaha’s two affordable new dental insurance plans give your clients a reason to smile. Add the vision care reimbursement rider too. Go to Sales Professional Access for plan availability effective Oct. 7 and the e-App (stand-alone and in the Med supp e-App).

CANCER AND HEART ATTACK/STROKE PLANS

These plans perfectly complement Medicare supplements because they pay for the additional expenses related to these conditions. For more information and the e-App, go to Sales Professional Access, Critical Advantage page.
