Taking a Screen Shot To take a screen shot, you have two options: you can take a picture of your entire screen or you can take a picture of just a portion of your screen. Whole screen: command – shift – 3 Selected area only: command – shift – 4 After hitting all three keys, position your cursor in what will be the upper left corner of your shot, hold down the left mouse button and pull away to select the desired area for the shot. Area will be capture when you release pressure on your mouse. All screen shots get saved to your desktop. You can open them in Preview and annotate them if you wish. They save as .png files.
