Tales from Shakespeare
Charles and Mary Lamb
Charles and Mary Lamb
they were English, they were from London
the biggest piece is Shakespear‘s games rewritten into tales for children
they were both a little crazy and Mary even killed their mother
Charles also wrote poems and balads, Mary didn‘t write more, she spent a lot of time in the hospital for the mentally ill
1775 - 1834 1764 - 1847
this book is devided in short tales: The Tempest A Midsummer Night‘s Dream Much Ado About Nothing As You Like It The Merchant of Venice Mackbeth Twelfth Night, or What You Will
Let me introduce two of them
A Midsummer Night‘s Dream
A comedy, it takes place in ancient Greece It is about four young people who love each
other. There is very complicated relationship-spider
between them. The king of the fairies messes up their love
story with love-juice, but in good faith Finally there is a happyend, and they don‘t
really know, if it wasn‘t only a dream…
As You Like It Another love story with a complicated
plot and a happyend It takes place in France and Ardens
wood It‘s about two girls, who live in disguise
because of unlawful duke They love unlawful duke‘s enemy and
his brother At the end, there is a lawful duke
again, and young couples are married
+/- I liked this book, because I know a lot
of Shakespeare‘s plays In this book it is rewritten in an easy
and simply style And finally the tales have usually
happyends whitch makes a nice afternoon-reading from them
THE END
