The Prime Minister and the Chancellor are preparing a severely

puritanical Budget, taxing Gambling, Night Clubs and even BingoHalls out o existence. But on the eventul aternoon beore its

presentation shocks are in store. The act that a total stranger

is intent on removing most o her clothes in the PMs oce and

that her dress ends up on his wie, who is determined to extract as

much blood as possible rom anybody she meets, is bad enough, but when two other ladies also appear in a somewhat less than

ully clothed state and declarations are made that question the

PMs suitability at such a delicate time, then the ensuing mess

needs to be handled with tact and diplomacy. Who better than

the Prime Ministers ever attentive PPS? Unortunately he has apersonal private crisis o his own!

Brian Friels one-act play takes two Chekhov characters and has

them meet up twenty years ater the original plays are over. Sonya,

Uncle Vanyas devoted niece, and Andrey, the intellectual but

henpecked brother rom The Three Sisters meet in a Moscow caand exchange stories. Each weaves a antasy tale o what lie should

have been, but while Andrey quickly admits that he is only dreaming

o what might have been, Sonya clings to the hope that her antasies

may still come to pass. The play is a brilliant, poignant and at times

humorous invention taking us into the later lives o these two

    characters.

An autumnal, middle-aged idyll, a little gem ofa piece. Daily Mirror

It was described as a joke and a vaudeville sketch by Chekhov

bravura piece shows three characters, a widow, a landowner and a

You see...Ibelieve inthe god ofcarnage. He has ruled,

uninterruptedly, since the dawnof time. Two sets o mature, intelligent parents meet to talk over the

fght their 11 year old sons had in the local park. What promises

to be an evening characterised by careul discussion, mutualrespect and agreement switly deteriorates into bickering and

playground antics. Come and see what happens when parents

    behave worse than their children.

In this internationally acclaimed, Tony award winning play,

Yasmina Reza (also author o Art) manages to combinesharp-edged comedy with a brutal dissection o bourgeois values.

The God o Carnage is that rare kind o play which provokes

uproarious laughter and deep discomort at the same time.

Twenty years beore the story starts a wicked Sorcerer tried to

usurp the good King Cole o Eggshellia. Fortunately, he was

unsuccessul and was banished, but beore he let he uttered

a curse that the Kingdom would be drained o sunlight and

happiness. The Court Magician at the time managed to suspend

the curse and trap it in a giant egg. The egg sits on the wall o the

palace and as long as it remains intact, Eggshellia is sae.

Every year the egg is celebrated by everyone. Humpty Dumpty is

guardian o the egg together with Sergeant Whizz and Private

Bang, the Kings men. Mother Hubbard, who runs the royal

bakery, and her assistant Tommy Tucker are preparing all the

ood and the populace is ready or the party. Just as the estivities

get underway, Madam Miniver makes her entrance with her

servant, Snivel. Who are they and why have they arrived at that

moment? And what is her link with the banished Sorcerer? Is the

egg about to all and release the curse?

All will be revealed in the Talismans Annual Pantomime which, in

the tradition o previous years, includes all the un, music, magic

and spectacle that has come to make it the best in the area.
