Creating Pathways - We Learn - We Care - We are Safe
Our school community suffered a great loss last week with the passing of one of our students, Sam Gauci. Sam’s passing was a great shock to all of us and there is tremendous upset and sadness across the school community. His funeral was held on Wednesday and a large number of our staff attended demonstrating the huge impact Sam had on the lives of our staff that have worked with him over the years that he has attended our school. In this newsletter, you will find some photos of Sam that celebrate his time here at Tallowood School, and are a great reminder of the delight that he brought to our school each day.
At this difficult time, we need to support and look after each other and I have provided some details below of services that may be able to assist if needed.

RFF NEWS
In term 3, we have been doing a variety of activities around the school. Our students have been focussing on the upcoming Metropolitan Sports Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park which is being held at the end of August. Our students have been practising many different sports activities like javelin, shotput, long and short jump and racing. Our students from kindergarten have been enjoying gym sessions and fine motor skills activities.
Sports sessions bring a lot of sensory and positioning activities too. This term, our students have been focussing on holding different textures and letting them go when asked to.
Class 9, has been enjoying swimming every Monday and together with class 10 have enjoyed going to Peel Reserve for community access. It was great to see that both classes enjoyed having social time in the park outside of the school and class environment.

CLASS 16
In Class 16 we have been studying the Living World in Science. In this topic so far
we have investigated living and non-living things and are learning about the life cycles of different animals. We are intrigued with our class leaf insects. We check daily to see if the smaller leaf insects have moulted and grown any more. Our visits to the Tallowood farm and parks on community access help to support our awareness and knowledge of the living world in the world outside our classroom.
