May Professional Learning Community Meeting

The mission of the Whatley K-8 School is to motivate and prepare learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to reach their goals and be productive citizens. The teachers and staff will accomplish this by providing an environment that is safe, clean, and conducive to learning with a comprehensive curriculum, effective instruction, and essential resources.

Communication is essential in order for professional communities to be effective. Schools and community leaders must work together to ensure the opportunity for success for all students. Many opportunities for communication exists for parents, teachers, administrators, and other community stakeholders to collaborate and communicate for example: PTA meetings, Title I Parent Meetings, Open house, newsletters, Student Agenda books, and the school district website.

Technology provides many opportunities for to advance the learning opportunities for students in various ways. Technology in schools provides for acquiring problem-solving skills, provide equity of resources among students, to introduce technology- to prepare students for the future, & to spark the interest in learning, and use technology resources that affirm diversity.

All persons must be adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the school district and local school.

All teachers, students, and parents have a responsibility to ensure that the available technology is used to increase learning opportunities for students for academic achievement.

Students are provided opportunities to use various sources of technology in the classroom.

These sources of technology include: power point presentations, virtual libraries & labs, science experiments , and computerized tutorials sessions, etc.to engage students in various subject areas.

Computers are available in classrooms to assist students in research and completing assignments.

All teachers, students & parents must read, sign, & adhere to the technology policy of the school district.

Students are not allowed to log onto unauthorized website sites such social media networking systems.

The Alabama Educator Code of Ethics defines the professional behavior of educators in Alabama and serves as a guide to ethical conduct. The code protects the health, safety, and general welfare of students and educators
