Long transportation of concrete due to traffic jams, long
distances from ready-mix company to city center, big
projects in remote areas
Fast hardening speeds up building process
Technology must be flexible following the changing
customer requests and concrete recipes and must be
combinable with customers’ cements
Not only for self compacting concrete, but also normal
slump concrete: for all concrete requirements in mature
and emerging markets
Robustness and softness: financial advantage for the
customers as fluctuations in the concrete performance are
minimized, significantly reduced numbers of rejected
concrete batches

KEY PROJECTEAST BRANCH DAM PROJECT, USA
13
Project DescriptionDam Cutoff Wall up to 310 feet deep. For this project an extreme extended workability of the self compacting concrete was required without any extra addition of admixtures at the site. To demonstrate environmental responsibility, the cement was 50 % replaced with fly ash. As the concrete was going to be in contact with water, anti-wash out properties had to be passed as well
Sika SolutionAfter the adaptation of the concrete mix design Sika® ViscoFlow®- 2020 was capable of fulfilling all required parameters

FIBER REINFORCED FIRE-RESISTANT CONCRETE
JÜRG SCHLUMPF, CORPORATE TARGET MARKET MANAGER CONCRETESIKA CAPITAL MARKETS DAY 2017
SikaFiber® micro synthetic fibersIncrease fire resistance of concrete after a fire attack by preventing collapse of structural behavior→ strong growing demand due to urbanization and new regulations
SikaFiber® Force macro synthetic fibersReplace costly laying of conventional steel reinforcement for many applications→ save time and increase concrete producers’ product value
HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH SikaFiber®REINFORCED CONCRETE
15
In the case of fire, a fast and sudden collapse of the concrete structure needs to be prevented
Building insurances require fire tests on structural pre-cast concrete elements such as columns
For large infrastructure projects such as tunnels, a passive fire protection for the outer concrete shell (inner lining or tunnel segments) is required
FIRE PROTECTION WITH SikaFiber® MICRO FIBERSVAPOR PRESSURE DESTROYS CONCRETE
16
CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT WITH SikaFiber® MACRO FIBERSIMPROVED TENSILE STRENGTH ONLY POSSIBLE WITH FIBERS
18
Tensile strength can only be achieved with the help of fibers
Huge amount of thin fibers added to the concrete during production, generating a finely divided structure
No reinforcement preparation, transportation and installation on site
Cost reduction for contractors due to time savings as reinforcement is already inside the ready-mixed concrete
2013 Acquisition of Radmix, the leading supplier of structural fibers for the Australian mining industry
2016 Acquisition of FRC Industries in the USAFRC offers a full line of quality synthetic fibers
2017 In Germany, Sika opens the 1st production line in Europe. The new fiber type SikaFiber® Force-60 is ready for rollout
2018 New production line in Peru for synthetic fibers in preparation to cover demand in Latin America
