a) Basketball was invented more than 100 years ago. TheruleS have changed a lot, but the fundamentals arethe same. we need two hoops at opposite ends of thecourt and a ball. There are five players in one team. The aim of the game is to score more points than youropponents by throwing the ball through the hoop.During the game players dribble the ball (bounce it onthe floor in a continuous motion), pass the baII and tryto throw it through the hoop. The other team tries to"steal" the ball.

b) The rules of tennis are quite simple. The two opponentsstand on opposite sides of the court. The right to serveis decided by the toss of a coin. The server starts thegame bY tossing the ball into the air and hitting it intothe diagonally opposite part of the court withouttouching the net. The receiver tries to return the ballbefore it bounces twice. you can score a point if youropponent can't return the ball or híts it outside thecourt.

was the last tíme you went to a dentíst?

We have a regular, annual dental checkup at school,

We go to the dental surgery, where the dentist

examines our teeth, our gums and our mouth. lf we

need treatment, he gives us an appointment.

lt was about three months ago. One of my teeth started

to ache and became sensitive to heat and cold. The

dentist examined my tooth, took an X-ray and found

a small cavity. He filled it. lt wasn't painful, but l just

hate the drilling and buzzing,

About a year ago l woke up at night with a very bad

toothache. lt was one of my wisdom teeth. lwent to

the dentist in the morning. He told me l had to have the

tooth removed. He gave me an anaesthetic injection in

the gum and I had to wait in the waiting room for half

an hour. When rny gums became numb, l went back to

the surgery and the dentist pulled out my tooth.
