Psalm 34:8-12 “refuge in him! Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Philippians 4:11-13 “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. FIND COMFORT IN GOD

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes

refuge in him!” (34:8)

“Taste & See”

Observation #1 • David’s reliance on God did not start

with the trouble in the wilderness. David’s reliance on God started many years earlier as a youth.

Psalm 34:18-19 “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” (ESV)

“Taste & See”

Observation #2 • The Bible does not promise that

believers will never suffer. It actually promises the opposite.

“Taste & See”

Observation #3 • A different type of “rescue” might be

in view here.

John 19:36-37 “For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: ‘Not one of his bones will be broken.’ And again another Scripture says, ‘They will look on him whom they have pierced.’” (ESV)

“Taste & See”

Application • An Observation: David is able to

respond faithfully in troubled times because of his past history with God.

“Taste & See”

Application • A Question: Where do you currently

go for comfort?

“Taste & See”

Application • A Commitment: I will praise and obey

God in the midst of my struggles.

“Taste & See”

–Will God deliver me from my trials in this life? Maybe.

–Will God deliver me from my trials in the next life? Certainly.

–Will God sustain me in my trial? Absolutely.
