The programme is a short term taster course and is aimed at students who are considering studying in the UK in the future. It’s an opportunity to try it out before commiting to a longer programme. Students join classes with their own age group and get a good sense of the UK education system and the subjects on offer.

Outside the classroom, activities run at lunchtime, after school, after supper and into the evening, as well as at weekends. With over 100 extra curricular activities ranging from archery to trampolining, maths club to hill walking, we make sure that our students have plenty of opportunities to try new things as well as developing existing interests.

The school is very popular and we therefore only have very limited taster spaces to offer. Students will be placed in Years 7 to 10 ( ages 11 to 14). There may be the opportunity to stay for the whole summer term.

The cost is £1000 per week plus a £500 deposit. The balance of the deposit will be returned when the student leaves. The deposit can be used to pay for an airport transfer which is not included.

The programme

Sidcot’s campus sits in 160 acres of beautiful countryside in the rolling Mendip Hills.

The school has a relaxed and happy atmosphere which is enhanced by the peaceful surroundings. The location also benefits from being close to the cities of Bristol and Bath. There are excellent transport links and the school runs private buses each day to Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and surrounding villages. London is just 2 hours away and Bristol International Airport can be reached in 15 minutes by car.

Sidcot’s campus has some outstanding facilities. As well as superb sporting grounds, a 25m swimming pool, dance studios and an equestrian centre, we have professional standard facilities for arts and media. Our art school includes studios for painting, sculpture, photography and a digital media suite. The music school has a dedicated performance hall, practice rooms, recording studio and music technology suite. The drama studio can be used for both theatre performances and film. To ensure students are up to date with contemporary creative practices, we have recently built a new Creative Arts Centre which bridges the traditional genres with modern technology.

It is very simple to fly into Bristol International airport which is only 15 minutes from the airport. We can arrange for a taxi to bring the student to school – approximate cost is £30.

Transfers from Heathrow can also be arranged – a taxi costs around £175 – the cost can be shared if students are travelling together.

Students need to buy two shirts and a school tie. They can then wear black trousers / skirt with these. This will keep the cost to the minimum but help them to feel included. They need to bring sports clothes with them – trainers, shorts, swimming costume. If they wish, they can buy other uniform items (e.g. for sport) at the local uniform shop or on line. This is optional.

At the end of the programme students will get a certificate and a report from their teachers. Taster course students go home with a goody bag to remind them of their experience here.
