    Use your potato and vegetable peels!

    You can roast them with some oil and seasoning, and make a great tasty snack!

    Use your leftover potato's and mash to make fishcakes!

    Mash up your left over potato, add some fish you like, or even keep itveggie with leftover vegetables!

    Don't throw away your leftovers!

    You can blend them up to make a soup, or freeze them to do somethingwith a few months later

  • Winter Warmers Tasty Recipes to keep you warm!

    Ingredients:

    2 carrots, chopped300g swede, chopped600g potatoes, cut intosmall cubes 1 tsp vegetable oil 1 onion, chopped 300g vegetarian mince300ml reduced saltvegetable stock 1 courgette, grated100g frozen mixedvegetables or frozenpeas Ground black pepper 1 tsp cornflour

    Method

    !. Cook the carrots, swedeand potatoes in a largesaucepan of boiling water forabout 20 minutes.

    2. Heat the oil in a largesaucepan, gently fry theonion for 2-3 minutes untilsoftened. Add the vegetarianmince and stock. Bring to theboil, then reduce the heat,add the courgette andvegetables or peas. Cook,stirring occasionally, for 4-5minutes. Season with blackpepper.

    3. Preheat the grill, warminga baking dish underneath.Drain and mash the carrots,swede and potatoes,seasoning with black pepper.

    4. Blend the cornflour with 1tbsp cold water and add it tothe mince mixture, stirringuntil thickened. Transfer it tothe baking dish and spoonthe vegetable mash on top.Grill for about 5/10 minutes,until browned. Serve.

  • Winter Warmers

    Apple or Pear Oat CrumbleIngredients:

    10 apples or pears (or a combination of both)· 1/4 cup water· 4

    tablespoons olive oil· 2 cups quick cook oats· 2 tablespoons honey·

    2 tablespoons sunflower seeds (optional)· 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    (optional)· Generous pinch of nutmeg (optional)

    Method:

    1. Core and thinly slice the fruit, leaving the skin on.

    2. Put about 1/4 cup water in the base of a baking dish and thenarrange the thinly sliced fruit to cover the bottom of the dish.

    3. Heat the oil in a saucepan and then add the oats, honey,sunflower seeds, cinnamon and nutmeg

    4. Mix the ingredients over low heat with a wooden spoon untilthey are thoroughly combined.

    5. Spread the oat mixture over the sliced fruit.

    6. Bake in the oven at (160°C) for about an hour or until goldenbrown on top.

    Bird Food Recipe!Birds require high-energy (high-fat) foods during the cold

    winter weather to maintain their fat reserves to survive thefrosty nights.

    Mix one part lard to two parts seed in a saucepan and gentlyheat, stirring until the fat melts, mould with your hands, into

    balls. If you want them to hang from a tree thread some stringthrough them.

    Space apart in a plastic container or on a tray and place in thefreezer to set firm.4. Once the fat balls are solid, put in the

    garden, hang on a tree, on a bird feeder or in a fat-ball feeder.
