Medical Terminology: A Word Association ApproachMaster medical terminology with our six-week course!

You will be introduced to medical terminology from an anatomical approach as root terms are divided by each body system. The origin, a combined form, and an example of non-medical everyday usage is provided for each root term.

You’ll learn word associations and unusual, interesting information for each term. Root terms are combined with prefixes and suffixes as your learning will culminate in the interpretation of several paragraphs of medical notes.

Our instructor, Melissa Kemp, is an energy professional with extensive sales, design, project management, and business development experience in the renewable energy sector. Her particular focus to date has been on residential through medium commercial solar electric systems (PV), solar DHW systems, and geothermal systems, as well as net-zero buildings.

Melissa has designed, installed, and/or managed approximately 1 MW of solar electric systems, 15 solar hot water systems, and a dozen geothermal heating/cooling systems in the Central NY area. She is a NABCEP-certified PV Professional, an IGSHPA certified geothermal installer, a NYSERDA-eligible installer in the both state solar incentive programs, OSHA-30 certified, and trained in AutoCAD. Between 2006 and 2013, Melissa has attended over 400 hours of professional renewable energy trainings and has more than 150 hours of teaching experience in renewable energy design and installation. Melissa graduated with a bachelor’s of science from Princeton University in 2002.

Geothermal Design and Installation IGeothermal is an introduction to the industry and to geothermal heat pump technology from the building envelope through well-field design to distribution systems. Geothermal systems are the primary clean renewable energytechnology for heating and cooling buildings, which are responsible for some of our largest energy use.
