GET TO KNOWVanessa’s STORY2013 was a pretty dark time for me (sounds so cliché right?).

I was working part time as a Youth Worker and not feeling satisfied with my career choice, I was a Mum (still am), wife (still am), highly anxious and somewhat depressed (no longer) and I wanted to feel more,

and contribute more.

Life Coaching looked at the greatness and wholeness of people (new concept for me), and believed wholeheartedly that everyone has the innate capacity to be well and happy (another new

concept). The Coaches role was to guide people to bring out their own gifts, talents, mental health and that happiness isn't something only for the chosen few. It's up for grabs for everyone.

This is what I wanted to give people. This was life changing.

I looked at a lot of Life Coaching training organisations, and none of them felt right. The Coaching Institute stood apart and I chose them for their professionalism, the fact that they

Life coaching never seemed to me like a legitimate career... I always liked the idea but I couldn’t see how I could make a living from it. Until I stumbled across TCI.

I got to the point with my current job where I started thinking ‘life’s too short to be stuck doing something you aren’t crazy passionate about’. I investigated a few different things and life coaching

seemed to stick. So after looking at the various different coaching courses, I rang TCI. I had the most amazing discussion with Katie – in the space of an hour, I enrolled and booked in for the

Foundations of Coaching Success training weekend happening in a few days’ time!

I believe a key to success is to listen and absorb all the information and advice you can. If it worked for someone else, it might work for you. I modelled my teachers at TCI, Joe Pane and Sharon Pearson. I modelled my heroes, Marie Forleo, Gabriel Bernstein, Tony Robbins.

I modelled other TCI students.

The beauty of modelling is that I can accelerate my own success through learning how the greats have made it. And I believe my results can speak for themselves.

Since my intake in May, I have had two pro-bono clients, started my own coaching business, built up a network with a local BNI chapter, spoke about my business to a local Chamber of Commerce, received

referrals AND now have my first paying client. All the while still working full time AND planning a wedding. What’s next for me is organising a seminar for a group of ladies around my local area. I’m also concentrating

on more speaking engagements – it’s the best way to spread the good word.

“You are ready the moment you decide you are...”The most significant thing that’s happened to me since I enrolled? There’s been so many!!

I remember is getting to a position of being comfortable with asking people to pay for coaching, as well as the stages that I went through in really learning to value myself and what I was

worth – not from a financial perspective, but physically feeling okay within myself, with the tools, the ability I had to help others experience shifts within their life, and the experience of

different clients thanking you for what you’ve done for and with them... for the change you’ve helped create in their lives...

I went from charging per hour to earning over $35,000 per month on consultancy where my clients call me when they need me. I’ve just developed my first workshop sold at $1,200 per

month – and I’ve already had six people sign up before I even market it! By December, I’ll be on $50,000 per month – which is phenomenal with only 12 months into the journey.

I have a couple of key learnings throughout this journey...The first is take action!

Go out there and start speaking to everyone and anyone who is within three feet of you. Find out what their challenges are, and be okay with letting them know that you may be able to help them – and then

be okay with charging for that! A lot of coaches say that they need to do “more” before they’re ready, but the truth is you’re ready the moment you decide you are.

Be open to asking somebody’s advice who’s been there and done that... and take time to not only listen, but to implement it into your business. For a long time, I was asking mentors for advice, and I’d take on board what they said

with a “but” rather than with an “and”. Take action on advice, and do what they said. Then ask for more!

My 12-month goal is to turn my workshop into a program, “The Inner Game of Business Success” with 200+ people attending and to work with leaders in this community who can take it back to their team to create some amazing change...

“Then the most amazing thing happened!”I began my coaching journey with The Coaching Institute after my second child was born.

It was accepted and a whole new world of “I’m not good enough” opened up. I decided to practice by booking myself into the local community centres and advertising workshops.

My first client offered to pay me after our first session and my confidence went through the floor. I then had a whole load of I’m “not good enough”. But I did it anyway and persevered.

In my second year of coaching, I was approached by a business to do some executive coaching.I did a really good job of getting the business. I have since gone through the executive coaching

training and there are only a few things that I did right, and 100 I did wrong.
