Directors MessageBefore I started TDF Advertising, the experience I had gained from living in other countries gave me new ideas. This, combined with a passion for advertising, strengthened my belief that I could provide unique solutions to communicate the attributes of a brand. So, from the very onset, I wanted to do things differently, tread on new grounds, break conventional barriers and keep the audience engaged by providing enduring ideas.I would like to thank you for taking the time to learn more about our company. I believe the following profile will give you sound insight into our world of TDF Advertising.I started TDF Advertising with a vision to change the perception of advertising in Kenya. When we started out, advertising was thought of as a luxury and limited only to the big players in the market. A certain segment of brand owners didnt see the importance of advertising or understand its power. If they did by any chance advertise, it was usually done without a strategy or a long-term plan. This is still the case with many, but today more brand owners are beginning to understand the impact that good advertising, consistent messages, uniform branding and a strong brand image can have. We hire guys who are a bit weird and whacky. Some are day-dreamers, some have OCD, some work even in their sleep, some may have wild ideas, but they all have one main thing in common they are passionate about advertising.

We continually train all our employees and nurture their personalities, as we believe that an eclectic mix of people leads to enduring ideas, blue sky thinking and engaging outputs.

Monica Vaid Chief Alchemist (A.K.A. Right Brain) Monica controls the creative side of TDF Advertising. Her love for art and culture comes across in all her work. She designs campaigns and proposals to be innovative, which also have the power to strike an emotional chord with the viewer. She has an eye for detail and leads her team of creative Alchemists with fervour, zest and passion. Monica was born and brought up in London where she studied English and Drama at Queen Marys college, University of London. She furthered her studies with a diploma in Dance, and with shorter courses in Art and Design, Copywriting and Photography. She spent a few years of her life in Mumbai where she co-produced a film with Jay and furthered her knowledge on media and production. .ManagementJay Varia Chief Advertising Guru (A.K.A Left Brain)Jay is the business brain behind TDF Advertising. He is a visionary, and an inspirational leader. With a keen eye for new tools and approaches, Jay is known for his unconventional ways of doing things. Jay has the ability to draw in more business with his knowhow and charisma. He has a team under him who is well trained in further developing and sustaining strong business relations. Being born into a family of many businesses, Jay gained insight and expertise in business management from a young age. He spent a few years of his adolescent life in Mumbai where he worked in front of the camera for TV and eventually produced his own film. His years in Mumbai gave him immense experience in media and marketing.

Nakul GroverDirector of Operations (A.K.A The Surgeon)

Nakul's acting experience and theatre background has taught him excellent communication and "people"skills which help bring and sustain business in TDF.His role is to ensure that corporate affairs, projects and client affairs are managed adequately. Nakul holds an Honours degree in Marketing, Media and Communication from a British university. Besides acting, he has developed and managed various events and film shoots and has gained vast experiencefrom working in the field of advertising in Mumbai and London.

HistoryOur first advertising task, in 2005, was to create a series of five T.V. commercials for Nakumatt stores. Our challenge was the limited budget we had at hand, but had to prove to ourselves, as well as to our client, that we could do it. We succeeded and also won a new account. Tuskys supermarket wanted to rebrand and hired us for the job. We rebranded Tusker Mattresses to Tuskys, and to communicate the rebranding, we created an advertising campaign that included an award winning TV commercial. After this, there was no looking back for the agency. Since its formal inception in 2009, the company has grown tremendously. Our current client portfolio includes companies such as LG, Bobmil Group, Supa Loaf, Menengai Oil Refineries, Heineken and East African Breweries.

TDF Advertising started operations at a time when companies were tiring of the factory like advertising produced by competitors at astronomical prices. We provided our clients with more creative, personalised and substantial solutions at much lower rates.

TDF Advertising carved a niche for itself in In-Store Category Branding. We tailor-make innovative designs which communicate well with consumers and make the brand more conspicuous on the shelves of the supermarket. We provide end-to-end solutions from design to fabrication and implementation. In the last few years, TDF Advertising has gained a lot of recognition as a company. Advertising campaigns produced for Supa Loaf were highly appreciated and widely spoken about in the media. Being the media and PR partner for Cricket Wars also gave TDF Advertising a lot of media hype and coverage. This in turn led to the agency being approached by the likes of companies such as LG and Bobmil Group to handle their accounts.

Won an MSK award for Tuskys Mambo Yote (60 second TV commercial) in 2005Received positive media coverage and critically acclaimed reviews for the Supa Loaf advertising campaign in 2006Introduced inflatable advertising in Nakumatt stores in 2010The Lion Chase TV commercial for Supa Loaf was voted the 5th most popular advert of the year according to the popularity index of 2013, beating Safaricom, Coco-Cola, Fanta, Samsung and TuskerAs the advertising and PR partner for Cricket Wars 2013, we successfully managed to create media hype for the event with highlights of the day in national daily newspapers, a reach of 1900 people in 3 days on their Facebook page and online discussions in India about the event, the cricketers and the TV stars. The twitter handle for East FM, the media partner, reached an all-time high as being number 1. Nakumatt is the fastest growing retail chain in East Africa. There are 43 branches, region-wide, and still growing. Nakumatt is our partner for in-store branding. We are also the sole agency to execute Inflatable Advertising, Till Branding, Security Bar Branding and Category Branding in all of the Nakumatt branches.
