ACCESS TO COURSE FACILITIES

Players must report to the Shop before teeing off.

As the course is often booked for corporate and/or social groups, it is strongly recommended that players call the Club Shop to confirm availability of the course BEFORE travelling to the course.

Formal start sheets operate on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays and may be implemented for other days if the situation requires it.

On any day for which a start sheet is in place, start times need to be booked. Members can check on-line as per instructions below.

Mondays: Generally open but occasionally host weekday Interclub events.

Tuesdays: Men’s Weekday and Competitions for the Men 10.30am.

Wednesdays: Women’s Men’s Weekday and Competitions - 9.30 a.m.

Thursdays: Men’s Weekday and Competitions for the Men 10.30am.

Fridays: Generally open but occasionally host corporate and/or social groups.

Saturdays: Open to all Te Marua Golf Club members and their guests. Unless advised otherwise, all play starts from Tee #1.

Sundays: Weekend “Club Day” – Open to all Te Marua Golf Club members and their guests. Unless advised otherwise, all play starts from #1 tee.


Tee Bookings from members of other Clubs will be accepted for a Sunday morning if there are still tee-times available as at the start of the Saturday of the same weekend.

The following tee booking methods are available to Te Marua Golf Club members:

“On-line” via the ‘DotGolf’ website http://www.golf.co.nz/mygolf, but for a maximum of 7 days in advance.

o Log in to www.golf.co.nz using your 7-digit NZGA membership ID

o Click on the Tee Booking tab and log into the “Tee-Booking” system.

“Off-line” - Members who have no access to the internet will need to call Te Marua Golf Club Shop/Office during normal TMGC business hours and request a tee time.

Note: Bookings for more than 4 persons must be arranged through the Shop/Office.

Please: Repair divots by replacing and firmly stamping down turf. Where a

solid piece of turf is not available for replacement, level out the divot edges with the base of a golf club to make a relatively flat area from which a ball can be hit.

Repair all ball marks / pitch marks on the greens.

Keep trundlers off greens and tees

Wherever possible, keep motorized carts on the drier ground, away from areas which tend to collect water when it rains.

COMPETITIONS – GENERAL INFORMATION This Programme Book lists the competitions and events scheduled

specifically for Te Marua Golf Club members’ participation, along with any

Wellington Golf (Inc) events and/or corporate bookings which are likely to

impact members’ use of the course and/or Clubhouse facilities.

The draw for each of the Interclub competitions in which Te Marua fields

a team is included. Persons interested in the detail of Wellington Golf’s

2018 programme and/or results should consult the Wellington Golf

website http://www.wgi.co.nz

Any event registration requirements or variations to the schedule and/or

competition conditions will be advised by notice(s) posted on the Club

Notice Boards and/or the News pages on the Club’s website -

Eligibility for participation in competitions may vary. Unless stated

otherwise in the Competition Conditions, Club Trophy events are open to

Full Playing members only.

The DotGolf scorecard printing system provides the option to enter

competition(s) of the day. Results will be viewable on www.golf.co.nz

through the My Competitions pages. Progress and final results are

available as scorecards are entered into the DotGolf system. Scorecards

are generally entered on the day of play, but those returned late in the day

will most likely be entered the following day.

SUBSCRIPTIONS Subscriptions as determined at the Annual General Meeting are payable from the first day of February in each year. Any member who has not, by 1st March paid their subscription in full, or made arrangements to pay by installment or during the year fails to pay any installment by its due date, shall not be entitled to take part in any competitions. Membership suspension will be actioned for anyone who defaults on their subscription payment(s).


INSURANCE The Club contributes to an Insurance Scheme which covers repairs to Member’s equipment damaged “in the normal course of play”. Any excess payable under a claim must be met by the Member.

Claim forms are available from the shop and all claims are to be made through the Shop and must be accompanied by a receipt.

All other claims must in the first instance be referred to the equipment owner’s insurance company.

Members are strongly advised to ensure their household policy covers their equipment against theft or loss.

GREEN FEES FOR VISITORS Members are welcome to bring guests on most days but should confirm through the Tee Booking system and/or The Shop that there will be no clash with formal club and/or corporate events. Guests must be introduced to the Duty Manager in the Shop and obtain a Green Fee ticket to attach to their golf bag. Please note that members are responsible for ensuring their guests comply with all course rules and regulations, particularly as they relate to care of the course and pace of play. MOTORISED BUGGIES & BIKES Motorised Golf Carts are available for hire and should be booked in advance. They may be used in all Club Competitions except Club Championship events and the Te Marua Masters unless the player has provided a Medical Certificate and/or been granted medical exemption by the Match Committee. Privately owned motorised Golf Carts or bikes may be used only with written approval from the Executive Committee. Such approval may be withdrawn at any time. Users of privately owned Golf Carts must comply with all rules set down for the use of the Golf Carts available for hire, particularly keeping the carts at least 5 metres from Greens and Tee areas. For protection of the course during adverse ground and/or weather conditions, the use of motorized Golf Carts may be prohibited at the discretion of the Duty Manager / Administrator in consultation with Club Captain and/or Match Convenor.

CELL PHONES In consideration of all other golfers, cell phones should be switched to silent alert and used only when absolutely necessary.


THE RULES OF GOLF If you observe any breaches of the RULES OF GOLF, you are obliged, under the same set of RULES, to notify the Match Committee, through the Duty Manager / Administrator. YOU will be in breach of the RULES if YOU knowingly sign a card which is incorrect as a consequence of a breach of the RULES.

FORMAL COMPETITIONS – DEFINITIONS and CONDITIONS All formal competitions and their associated conditions are defined by the

current Match Committee, in consideration of any conditions set by the

sponsor of any Trophy associated with the competition.

ARRANGING OF MATCHES – ALL MEMBERS Preliminary round matches must be played on or before the stipulated date. If players are unable to agree a date, the play by date takes precedence. Semi-final and Finals matches must be played ON the specified date.

Should the player(s) be unavailable for the set date, then the unavailable player - or players - will be required to default the match. The Match Committee may replace the defaulting player(s) with the player(s) defeated in the prior round.

In light of the above conditions, players should confirm their availability for the Semi-finals and Finals and the Reserve Dates BEFORE entering any multi-round match play event.


Postponements caused by inclement weather will be managed at the time. If possible, reserve days will be used. As a last resort, new dates will be set and participants will be required to play on those dates or to seek approval from the Match Committee for the match to be played on another date.

PROTESTS When it is intended to protest the player should, as well as complying with the rules of golf, notify a member of the Match Committee through the On-Duty Manager / Administrator that he/she intends to protest. Unless this is done prior to or immediately after the completion of the game the protest may not be considered. If a member of the Match Committee is unavailable at the time the protest is lodged, the card should be marked "Protest" and left with the Duty Manager / Administrator for follow up action.


HOLE IN ONE The following conditions apply to a hole-in-one.

Any member who scores a hole-in-one while playing a “Stipulated Round”, at home or away, shall have the feat recognized and have their name entered on the “Perfect Shot” Honour’s Board.

A hole-in-one at home qualifies the member for up to $100 in the bar on the day of the achievement, or reimbursement of up to $75 if scored at another Club.

In the event of a member scoring a hole-in-one on a day when the bar is closed, the “shout” may be postponed until the next available and convenient day – confirmation of the new date to be in discussion with the Match Committee and/or Caterers.

Multi-round competitions – Where the event is defined as a “best of”, e.g. best 2 of 3 or best 3 , it is NOT essential for the player to compete in all available rounds. Playing the minimum number of rounds is acceptable.

ARTHUR AVIS TROPHY: Better Ball Stableford – mixed or non-mixed pairs playing in 1 competition. (Arrange own partners). TE MARUA VETERAN’S TROPHIES: Open to all members aged 50 and over. CHRISTMAS CHEERS: – Stableford for Charity CLOSING DAY: GETHING TROPHY – Better Ball STABLEFORD – mixed or non-mixed pairs playing in 1 competition. (Draw for event partners). JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP’S WEEKEND COMPETITIONS DON HAZLETT TROPHY: 36 holes Net Medal using the player’s best 2 of 3 x 18 hole scores. Open to Club members, male and female, under 23 years of age at time of first round.


MEN’S WEEKEND COMPETITIONS CONDITIONS OF PLAY: To participate in managed competitions, players must be on the tee no later than 1.00 p.m.

The Committee reserves the right to change any condition of competition prior to the start of play.

CHAMPIONSHIPS: For all championship events there will be three divisions based on Handicap Index: Senior Up to 9.7 Intermediate 9.8 – 15.2 Junior 15.3 and above Championship events are restricted to members with Full Playing privileges at the time the event is held.

MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP: All qualifying rounds and matches are played “off the stick” using the player’s Gross scores for each round/hole. MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS will be decided over 36 holes.

Qualifying: 36 holes of Stroke Play (Gross) played in conjunction with the Strokeplay Championships and using the player’s best 2 x 18-hole Gross scores from the available 4 x 18-hole rounds. The first 16 in each division qualify for Men’s Matchplay Championships.

Halved Matches. Any Te Marua Golf Club Trophy or Title match, which is all square after the last stipulated hole, is to continue to and beyond the 19th hole until one side or the other wins a hole. The 19th is the hole at which the match started. e.g. Start at 10, 10th=19th


STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS: 72-holes of Stroke Play (Gross) using the player’s scores from either best 3 or all 4 of the 4 x 18-hole rounds (at the discretion of the committee on a year-by-year basis). Any ties will be resolved by a play-off round which will be arranged by the Match Committee in consultation with the players involved. ADE WADDELL MEMORIAL: Four-Ball, Best-Ball match play on handicap from the lowest handicap in the match. Each pair to be one Senior (0-12), one Junior (13-24) at the time of the first round. Arrange own partners, draw for opponents. Players on a handicap of 25 or over may participate but must play on a maximum handicap of 24. NOTE: This is NOT a stableford event.

AMBASSADORS CUP: 18 holes Par competition.

AUSTAD CUP: Par competition over 2 x 18-hole rounds on separate days.

BOLT CUP: 36 holes Net Medal played in conjunction with the Strokeplay Championships using the player’s best two 18-hole Net Medal scores from the available 4 x 18-hole rounds.

ERIC COLE CUP: Based on points won in Interclub competition matches and awarded to top performing player in Club’s top inter-club team.

GOLFER OF THE YEAR: Qualifying over multiple rounds through the year for an 18-hole FINAL, the winner of which earns the right to ask, under strict conditions, any Full Playing MALE club member to buy him a beer (or non-alcoholic drink).

HASTWELL CUP: Stableford (Course handicap of 15-36 handicap) played on same day as Pope Cup.

event. NOTE: This is NOT a STABLEFORD event.

WOMEN’S WEEKEND COMPETITIONS

MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Matchplay Championships will be played from a ‘seeded’ draw. There will be two divisions based on handicap index at the time of the draw.

Silver: Up to 18.4 Bronze: From 18.5 All rounds except the Finals will be played over 18 holes on one specified day. Finals for all divisions will be over 36 holes.

STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS: 36 holes Strokeplay played on specified days in Silver and Bronze Divisions. Gross and Net Medal.

AUSTAD CUP: An Eclectic competition played in conjunction with L.G.U. Medal rounds. Played Sundays and/or Wednesdays.

DOROTHY PALMER TROPHY: Two rounds Stroke Play on handicap.

ECLECTICS: With the exception of match play, 18 holes must be played before eclectics can be counted. In match play, if a match has finished, eclectics can be counted without completing the course. When the daily competition is two rounds eclectics can be scored on both rounds. Summer and weekend Eclectics and Austad Cup are all less half handicap. Summer Eclectics can be submitted any day between Closing and Opening Day.

Draw in Clubhouse on Wednesday 10 minutes before first tee time. The Programme may be altered at any time at the discretion of the Weekday Match Committee.

MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Matchplay Championships will be played from a ‘seeded’ draw. There will be two divisions based on handicap index at the time of the draw.

Silver: Up to 18.4 Bronze: From 18.5 If numbers allow there will be a Bronze2 division for handicap index range of 29.3 to 54.0

The Silver and Bronze1 division finals will be played over 36 holes, the Bronze2 division over 18 holes. STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS: 36 holes of Strokeplay over 2 separate days in 2 Divisions - Silver and Bronze. Gross and Net Medal for each Division.

ECLECTIC COMPETITION: Weekday eclectics may be counted on all Men’s Weekdays. Eclectics are less half handicap. Vi Porter Trophy for winner and Nan Saunders Tray for runner-up (If the winner is Silver the tray goes to the best Bronze & vice versa).

AUSTAD CUP: An Eclectic competition played in conjunction with L.G.U. Medal rounds. Played Sundays and/or Wednesdays.

FAY JONES TROPHY: Best S/F over 18 holes Weekday & Weekend.
