Diploma Overview The Teacher Education Professional Diploma (TEPD) is a 24 credit hour, nine-month accredited diploma offered by the Queen Rania Teacher Academy QRTA, and awarded by the University of Jordan. The Diploma combines theory and an extensive practicum experience for future teachers of grades 4 and above.

Diploma Program The Diploma comprises face-to-face teaching at the Academy linked to elements of online learning, as well as practical training related to professional practice in schools where they will be placed. The diploma is made up of 3 modules: Module 1: Pedagogies for Learning and Teaching. Understanding of the concepts of learning objectives, learning outcomes, aims for learning, appropriate activities and their sequencing as well as links to assessment. Module 2: Subject Didactics Examine and analyze examples from other jurisdictions and contexts particularly in relation to planning in their subject area, and design teaching materials and resources for use within the classroom. Module 3: School Experience Students are expected to plan episodes of learning with the school mentor and gradually build up to teaching and evaluating their classroom practice as they take on more lessons.

Application Eligibility Requirements for the 2017/2018 Academic Year:

• Must have a subject specific undergraduate degree in English, Arabic, mathematics, science, or a related field with a minimum grade of "Good" or equivalent.

• Must have a good command of both written and spoken Arabic.

• Must have a good command of English.

• For applicants who have not yet graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at the time the application is submitted, s/he should maintain a grade of "Good" upon graduation.

Additional Requirements (Criteria for Selection):

• Must have the will and passion to further enhance the quality of education in Jordan.

• Must have a passion for the teaching profession.

• High level of subject knowledge and the ability to use technology within their subject area.

• Enthusiasm and interest in teaching their subject to students in grades 4 and above.

• Ability to reflect creatively and critically.

• A positive attitude to, and involvement with young people, and an understanding of the importance of establishing respectful, supportive and constructive relationships with students.

• High expectations of children and young people, and a commitment to their achievement.

• A sense of the scope of a teacher's professional skills and responsibilities.

Queen Rania Teacher Academy offers, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Civil Service Bureau, a scholarship for the Teacher Education Professional Diploma. Applicants who are interested in are encouraged to apply.

*Scholarship Details Successful applicants who pass enrolment requirements and are interested in working with government schools will have their tuition covered and part of their expenses covered by a governmental scholarship and will be committed to working in government schools for a certain period of time in accordance with Ministry of Education regulations.

*Scholarship Requirements

• Must be Jordanian.

• Must not be over 35 years of age.

• Must have an undergraduate degree with a minimum grade of "Good" or equivalent.

• Must not be a civil or military retiree or a current public servant or serving in the military.

• Must have a good command of both written and spoken Arabic.

• Must have a good command of English.

• Candidates will go through an admission exam administered by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Civil Service Bureau followed by an Arabic exam done by Jordan Academy of Arabic. At QRTA, Successful candidates will then be interviewed and hand in subject and groups tasks to reflect their communication skills.

* Program conditions , specifications and advantages

• Diploma period is for 9 months

• The Student teacher will be offered incentives during the study period and will be offered an additional bonus for student teachers who live outside Amman.

• A dispatch contract will be signed with successful applicants and will commit for three times the diploma period when appointed for employment. Applicants who fail to obtain the diploma should pay the cost of this program.

• Student teachers who successfully obtain the diploma will be employed at the Ministry of Education through the Civil Service Bureau in their area or any area being referred to.

Candidates are free to apply to the diploma at their own expense if they do not wish to commit to employment at Ministry of Education governmental schools.

Tuition details:

• Total tuition and fees for Jordanian citizens is 3000 Jordanian Dinars.

• Total tuition and fees for Non-Jordanians 6,400 USD.

Payment Terms 1st Payment: 50% by September 17, 2017 2rd Payment: 50% by February 1, 2017
