Goals of the New System
Prepare teachers to be ready day 1 in the classroom
Goals of the New System

December 7: Meeting in Bloomington
December 8-February 15: Gather phase 2 of data
February 15: Meeting in Bloomington
February 15-March 1: Complete data collection; report to ISBE
(Potential Webinar, if Needed, January 25)
Timelines for the Pilot
• Test and Provide input to ISBE on proposed indicators and measures
• Identify and solve data collection barriers at EPPs and ISBE
• Gather data to test benchmarks and inform appropriate weights and measures for the final system
• Identify and address program performance trends in advance of full system implementation
• Support EPPS to collaborate with one another around accountability and develop continuous program improvement systems
Goals of the Pilot
The pilot period will be essential for refining the system and establishing benchmarks and thresholds.
• You will have unprecedented access to placement and performance of graduates, which will allow you to make program refinements based on actionable, real-time data
• Additional time to test data for APR & provide feedback to ISBE before full system implementation
• Additional Time to Test data for Title II reporting and provide feedback to ISBE before federal implementation
How will this benefit you?
• Annual Program Report Still Needed
• We anticipate the data collection and reporting system will complement the CAEP process
• State-agreement not yet finalized
• New Federal Teacher Preparation Regulations (Title II Reporting) • http://www2.ed.gov/documents/teaching/teacher-prep-final-regs.pdf
APR and Title II Reporting
• Modified Reporting Period to Align with Title II • September 1- August 31
• Possible Rule Change: Annual Program Report due dates will move to the spring (beginning spring 2018, replacing fall 2017 report)
• Measures Overlap
• Reduce reporting burden on IHEs
How do the new rules impact this project?
• Do you support moving the state annual program reporting deadline to the spring (instead of fall) to better align with Title II reporting?
a. Yes
b. No- Keep the current timeline
c. I don’t know
