Play the video for 3 min. • What place does the story take place?
• What is the time?
• What is tone: happy or serious?
• WHILE READING ACTIVITIES
Play the video completely.
• Name the characters.
• Who freed the genie?
• Why did the genie want to kill the fisherman?
How did the fisherman put the genie in the pot again?
• Watch the video once again completely.
You can use this clue.
• First, the fisherman…• Then, the genie…• Again, the fisherman…• After that, the genie was furious…• Finally, the fisherman merely picked up the …
and sealed…
Do you know these words?• centuries• captive• expectations• vowed • pleaded• vain and so on.
• (Make them generalize these using the referential sentences from the story. One can play the video for
further comprehension and do the ongoing checking.)

• Write a brief summary of the story in group. (The best one would be awarded.)
Home assignment
• Which character do you like most and why? Write a paragraph in about 100-120 words in group.– (For developing critical commentary habit from
the beginning boys would favour the genie while the girls write for the fisherman.)

• Use the story on Page no 111 if the video/internet doesn’t work. Other activities would be similar.
