TEAM TEACHING STAGE FIRST AND SECOND GRADE

NAME OF THE STUDENT: Yuritza Loreto Araya Daz

NAME OF SCHOOL: Orlando Pea Carvajal school

    DATE: july 29th, 2010

    TASK 1: COLLABORATION ACTIVITIES

    1. What kind of activity did you perform the first time you were asked for help?

    How long did it take?

    First and Second grade:

We worked with a funny listening activity, by singing a song called: Hello, hi and

good bye, dippity, dippity and other called sing the colors. This activity took about fifteen minutes.

It is important to say that children of first and second grade work with the same book

Bounce 1, so they have learnt the same songs.

    2. What were the students doing before you started helping out?

They were talking each other and some of them didnt want to work with the activity.

So I explained them that if they do the written activity in their books, we would sing the

songs. They really liked that idea.

At the beginning, it was a little difficult to some of them to ask me for help, but with the

time they were more comfortable with my help.

It is important to mention that as little children, they need a lot of attention and love,

in spite of it is a little difficult sometimes to be patient, but I try to do my best and I

think I have won a very good relationship with them.

    3. How did the students react? Describe the atmosphere of the room and the levels of

    engagement in the room.

They reacted in a very good way. They called me as a teacher every time they neededmy help. It was a really nice experience, because I felt I was a utile teacher in that

moment, but I must say that as a teacher that works with little kids, it is necessary to be

more patient. The atmosphere was calm and most of them collaborated in the task of

    the activities.

    4. What other assignments were asked you to do? How often?

I helped the guide teacher to show them the flashcards and give them the prepared

    material.

I had to check their homework in the class.

    5. Were asked you to prepare any kind of special audio visual material learning material

for the students? Were they used? How effective were they?

No, I wasnt, but the teacher asked me to find the website of the Bounce book, in order

to prepare interactive material for them.

    TASK 2: LESSON PLANNING

    1) How did you get the information for planning the lessons for your students?

    First and Second grade

I got the information from my guide teacher at school and from the student book and

    homework book she let me.

    2) Did your guide teacher give you any suggestions for planning?

My guide teacher suggested me to plan according to the level and reality of the students.

She gave me the model of the lesson plan used at the school.

I received a suggestion from Mr. Rodrigo Gonzlez when he checked our lesson plans

    at the University.

    3) How long did it take to you to prepare learning material for your first lesson?

It took me around two hours and to tell you the truth I got desperate, but I did it great, I

guess. I think it is something normal to have some difficulties by preparing material at

    the beginning.
