1. LOOK WHAT GOD MADEBe sure to list the items you will be using today on the “Allergy Alert Poster” and post it at the door to your room.

W H AT Y O U N E E D : “Allergy Alert” Activity Page; cardstock; an opaque box or bag; and several nature items such as: seashell, small stick, leaf, small apple, orange, flower/flower petals, moss, etc.

W H AT Y O U D O :Before the Activity: Copy “Allergy Alert Poster” on cardstock and hang on the door. Place the nature items inside the bag/box.

During the Activity: Gather the children around the bag/box. Pick a child to reach inside the bag and feel the objects. Ask them to guess what the items feel like. After they make their guesses, tell them to pull one item out for everyone to see. Talk about the item and then let another child have a turn. Make sure every child gets a chance to feel inside the bag.

W H AT Y O U S AY:Before the Activity: “We are going to play a game. All you do is reach into the bag/box and guess what is inside without looking at it. Who wants to go first?”

During the Activity: “Reach in. Do you feel something? What does it feel like? Can you guess what it is? Pick one thing from the bag and pull it out so we can all look at it. (Child pulls out one object.) Look what God made! It’s a [flower]! God made the [flowers]. We know God is real because we can look and see all of the [flowers] He made. Thank you, [child’s name]. Now, who wants to go next?” (Continue in this way until all of the children have had a turn. Continue as long as there is interest.)

After the Activity: “God made the whole world and everything in it. But the BEST thing God gave us is a forever friend: JESUS! Jesus wants to be YOUR friend forever! Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever!”

2. MOTION THIS W H AT Y O U N E E D : No supplies needed

W H AT Y O U D O : Before the Activity: Gather children in an open area in the room.

During the Activity: Teach the words and motions to the Memory Verse.

After the Activity: Talk about how we know God loves us.

W H AT Y O U S AY: Before the Activity: “Hello, hello, friends! You are looking (binoculars with hands and look around) happy and excited to learn our Memory Verse today!”

During the Activity: “You repeat what I say, and then we’ll put it together. Let us (repeat) keep looking (repeat) to Jesus (repeat), Hebrews 12:2. (Repeat.) Let’s say it all together. Let us keep looking to Jesus, Hebrews 12:2. Great! Now let’s add the motions. Let us (thumbs to chest) keep looking (binoculars with hands and look around) to Jesus (point both hands up), Hebrews 12:2. Wow! Let’s say it one more time with the motions. (Repeat the verse with motions.) Nice job, friends!”

After the Activity: “God loves us so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our forever friend. Jesus teaches us the way we should act and treat others, so we should always look to Him. Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever.”

3. WORM PICK UPW H AT Y O U N E E D : Lint rollers; scissors; and pipe cleaners in various thicknesses and colors

W H AT Y O U D O : Before the Activity: Cut pipe cleaners into two-inch lengths. Make small bends in some of them. Scatter them on a table.

During the Activity: Encourage children to pick up the “worms” by running their lint rollers over the pipe cleaners. Pick them off and repeat.

After the Activity: Talk about how God made worms. God made everything. God made you.

W H AT Y O U S AY: Before the Activity: “Look! (Make binoculars with hands and look around.) The table is covered in worms (wiggle your fingers). Eek! Well, not really! But we can pretend they’re worms. I like to find worms in the garden because I know God made them to help the flowers and plants.”

During the Activity: “But today, let’s play a game to pick up all of these pretend worms. This (hold up lint roller) will be our fancy worm picker upper. It sure is sticky, and when you run it over the worms, the worms just jump right on it! (Demonstrate.) See? Okay, friends, it’s time to catch some worms! (Pause.) Whoa! I think you all might just be the best worm catchers I’ve ever seen!” (Repeat as desired.)

After the Activity: “Who made everything? (Pause.) That’s it! God did! Even the worms? Yep! God made the worms! And God made you and you and me. God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus to be our forever friend. Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever.”

4. FISHY W H AT Y O U N E E D : Water table or large plastic bins with water; plastic or foam fish; and towels

W H AT Y O U D O : Before the Activity: Place fish in the water. Place towels in the area.

During the Activity: Encourage children to play, count, identify colors, etc.

After the Activity: Talk about how God made the whole wide world and everything in it, including the fish.

W H AT Y O U S AY: Before the Activity: “Swim over to me, friends! (Pause.) Can you make a fishy face? (Demonstrate.) Those are great fishy faces! Where do fish live? (Pause.) In the water! Take a look at what’s in our water table today! (Pause.) Fish!”

During the Activity: “Let’s play with them! (Help roll up sleeves if needed.) How many fish do you see? (Pause.) Let’s count together. (Demonstrate.) Good job! Are they all the same color, or are they different colors? (Pause.) What colors do you see? (Pause.) There are lots of different colored fish! Can you catch the fish with your hands? Give it a try! (Pause.) Wow! Fish come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Which one is your favorite? (Pause.) Let’s put all the fish back in the water to swim around.” (Pause.)

After the Activity: “I love that God made fish in different shapes, sizes, and colors! Look around. God made everything that way! He made you and me as different as the flowers and the trees! God made everything in the whole wide world—big and little, red and yellow. God loves us so much that He made all these wonderful things, and He made Jesus too. Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever.”
