MBT PATTERN - JAN 2006Hi ,

This is the latest pattern of MBT.Total time :- 1 hr

Section A:- 35 questions (General English) -ScoringSection B:- 20 questions Series (Number and Diagram series) -ToughSection C:- 20 questions Quatitatve Aptitude(All questions from R.S.Aggarwal )

There is no strict time limit on each section.You can start from any section.There is negative marking of .25, remember it is clearly mentioned in the booklet that there is negative marking and suddenly one person came and told that there is no negative marking, but at the end other person came and announced that there is negative marking and previous announcement was just to divert you,so rememberthat there is negative marking

Test Pattern.

The paper was divided into 6 sections and each section had to be completed in

10 min.You cannot move forwards backwards. After every 10 min.

Section 1 : Quantitative Maths 10th level maths, the type of ques that come in CAT

exams.

Age problem,time & speed,simple trigonometry,algebra,mensuration,time & work,

profit &loss, percentage.

Section 2 : Logical Reasoning ques based on series, coding, blood relations ,

analogy

Section 3 : English Usage & verbal logic Parajumbles, antonym-synonyms,

analogy You need to have a good vocabulary for this section.

Section 4 : Data Interpretation There were three sets of problems based on

pie chart,

Section 5 : Reading Comprehension7 mins were given to read the passage and 3

mins for answering the questions. you are not allowed to turn back to the

passage while answering the ques.

Section 6 : Logic There were 2 flowcharts and some questions based on them.

it was the easiest section and all the questions in this section could be

attempted correctly.

There were total 80 questions that had to be attempted in 60 mins. The main

thing to remember was 1:1 negative marking. So attempt only what you know.

Interview

It was supposed to be a two phase process -- one technical interview and one

HR interview , but the focus in both interview was HR only. Even during

technical interview mostly HR based ques.

I had attended the drive for Infrastructure Management Services at Shraddha Centre Kothrud.

The Aptitude Paper was very simple consisting of 100 ques in 60 mins, no negative marking.

Four rounds of interview:

* Technical Interview * GD * HR (two rounds)

In TI dey asked very basic questions like abt my final year & mini projects,den basics of tcp/ip & udp protocols,c,OSI network

GD Topic : Should women be allowed to work in night shifts concerning IT industry.

HR-1: Normal HR-Tell me abt ur self-Tell me abt ur family-Strengths & Weakness-When did u realize xyz as ur strength,when did u realize xyz as ur weakness

HR-2: FormalityLike Welcome to techM,r u ready 2 sign 2 yrs bond,r u ready 4 relocation etc i,guys iam Avinash from Lakkireddy Balireddy College of Engineering completed BTECH in the stream of IT.

All u need to do is dat u need to be fast in ur calculations.

here time plays a crucial role.

Every question is very easy,u hv to maitain ur time correctly...

My suggestion is to start from reasoning,quant followed by english

generally reasoning and quant takes much more time compared to english.so give least time

to English and u know English section is very very easy jst basic grammer..

In reasoning section u may encounter questions on blood relations,analogies in alphabets(dfh:ikm::adg:?),numerical series etc..refer R.S agarwal verbal and non verbal reasoning.

In Quant section u'l see questions on mostly allegation and mixture,clocks,SI and CI,time and work,time and distance,problems on train,partnership problems.refer R.S agarwal quantitative aptitude… it is more enough…

questions are very easy.

English is very easy u can give less time to this section.

In english-1 u'l see synonyms,antonyms

english-2 general grammer refer Wren & martin.

english-3 Two simple reading comprehention of 10th and intermediate standard.

Technical Interview

My panel has two members they are really very kewl.They are very friendly with me.Interview goes on 45 min.

They even asked me to take 5 min to freeup myself and comeback again.

Then tech questions started

INTRVR1: what is view?

Me:...........

INTRVR1: what are access specifiers?gv me an example.

Me:...........

INTRVR1: write a program and xplain each and every step.

Me:..........

INTRVR1:Have u done ur project of ur own or fake one???

Me:answered confidently becoz our HOD guided us in doing our project we hv done it in college itself.

INTRVR1: Shall I ask ur team members abt ur project ? and give their names and contact numbers.

Me: I hv given their details confidently.

and so many basic questions hv been posed on me,it lasts for 25 min and in same round second interviewr started interviewing me on hr questions.many questions we cant say yes or no..becareful....jst think a while before answering.

INTERWR: first u will be taken as trainee and u can reach highlevel positions depending on ur capabilities,then I got a positive signal dat I may be selected……chill……..

Finally results were announced….Iam one among 38 members……..

This is Aishik Gupta , glad to tell you that me got selected in TechMahindra.Hurray!!!

I am from 2008 batch, ECE. There was an offcampus at TechM office at Techno India Building, Salt Lake , Kolkata on 6th March. Criterion required 60% all through academics. There were 4 rounds selection process�.

1) APTITUDE TEST

2) TECHNICAL 1

3) TECHNICAL 2

4) HR

Don�t know actual figure but , Apti cleared : 185, mainly tech1was heavy elimination round, tech 2 a little bit, and HR was cool.

In Aptitude , we had 60mins and 100 Questions.

Time was the factor, questions were easy�mainly compound interest, age, profit n loss problems, number series, English vocabulary, comprehension of passage etc. There was overall cutoff marks though unknown to candidates.

Technical 1 and 2 were tough for those from CSE/IT background. Questions from C, Java, College projects, DBMS (more importantly). They asked to have own example of database and show upto 4th normal form on it. Some were asked to write program on sorting (merge, selection etc), stack/queue. Even they were asked to write program in C to draw a graphical circle.

Myself from ECE,in Technical 1 I was asked to write program for a pascal triangle in C, asked result of SQL queries select *, use of �where� clause. What is SDLC? What is inheritance?

In Technical 2, I was asked from Digital Electronics.

What is Fip-Flip? What is register? How many types of registers are there? What is Accumulator?

HR round was ordinary. I was asked why I chose IT, why not core field job? What are the sections of SRS (Software Requirement Specification) ? What do you think is the necessary quality should a software professional have?

According to my experience I would like to suggest , Practice well for Aptitude test-R S Agarwaal is enough, have basic s clear for tech rounds, for CS/IT, C and DBMS-RDBMS are essential and be cool at HR. Tech Mahindra Paper on 03 FebHello friends,I am from J.K... It was 03rd Feb, one of the most memorable days of my life. Tech Mahindra came to our college. At 10:30 am they started their p.p.t. It was really very nice. Around 12 they started their aptitude test. There were 6 links, those consists of 6 different parts .There were 90 questions and 1hr. & no -ve marking and an aggregate cut-off marks along with sectional cutoff.Aptitude Test:1: Quantative test2: Logical Reasoning.

3: Verbal Reasoning. 4: Comprehension Test. 5: ENGLISH these were the simple questions on prepositions and verb; followed by RTC (reference to context) and fill the blanks type of questions. 6: .MATHSQuestions on Venn diagrams, Profit loss, Average and Speed. I don't want to give the questions. Just follow R.S Agarwal (Verbal -nonverbal, Quantative) & M.TYRA (MATH). It will make u most prepared one. After 1 hr. they declared the names selected for Technical Interview. From 22 students 14were selected for it. At 5:30 p.m. I went to give my tetchy. (these question consumes time as we hav to consider all the given 5-6 sentence and then arrange themin proper order)similar kind of question were their in this section.SECTION 6:-(22QUES)it went same as above with few extra questions of analogies, synonyms and antonyms.can be solved in 5-7 minutes if u have good EnglishPreparation from R.S. Aggrawal (QUANTI and Reasoning) is sufficient to crack the APTI.u just need to be quick in your calculations.Technical Interview:the TI was on the next day of aptitude test as the results of aptitude was announced very late in th night.the main focus is given to ur cv so be in possession of whatever u have written in your CVHR: I would like to know something about u?I: told to his satisfaction.HR:u have done ur training in DOORDARSHAN can u share ur experience?I: was prepared for this ques. and hence studied it already told him the maximum i could remember.

Raisoni College Of Engg. , Nagpur from Electronics branch. Tech Mahindra came to our college on 7th and 8th Jan 2010. The statistics of selection was - Appeared- 240 Aptitude Cleared- 57 Final Selection – 39The test consisted of 3 parts- aptitude test, technical interview and HR interview.Aptitude Test – The paper was not very tough but the main matter was time. In 60 mins 100 questions were to be solved. Moreover there was sectional cut off. We were told there was no negative marking. The test paper consisted of 6 sections.Logical reasoning verbal – 14Logical reasoning non verbal – 14Mathematical abilities – 12English I - 20English II – 20English III – 20I would suggest anyone to start wid d English section first. The first 2 sections consist of antonym synonym and fill in the blanks. The third section consists of comprehension passages and is bit tough. So you can go for the maths section after these two sections. In maths most of d questions were from SI and CI. There were questions from time and work and clocks. Preparation from R.S Aggarwal is enough. In the reasoning sections more questions were from blood relations and series.After the apti the results were after 1 hour. 57 students were short listed for the interviews the next day.Technical interview – the interviewer was very friendly. Firstly he asked me where I was from and looking at d mark sheets he started asking questionsHow can u measure powerWhat is a t flip flopWhat is instrumentationThen he asked me what would u do in a software company I told I know the hardware parts and also have a knowledge of programming. I have studied c and c++.Then he started asking questions from cWhat is a pointerWhat is the size of intWhich library function consists fact

Then he asked can u write programsI told I can but I don’t remember all d instructionsHe asked me algo for swap, sort, concatenate and concatenate without functionI was able to answer most of d questions. Sometimes he checks ur confidence also. But never be nervous and always keep a smiling face. What u know tell confidently.HR round – this round is a mere formality. 5 students were taken interview at a time and were asked to speak on a common topic( sort of GD). We spoke for about half an hour. After that we were told to wait for the results.After about 2 hours a person from techM came wid a list in d conference hall. He read out d list. I was in it. Campus Recruitment By Tech Mahindra At Priyadarshini College of Engineering, Nagpur On 7th & 8th January, 2010. Hi friends, I am sharing my experience with Tech Mahindra with you. I am Sanket, final yr. IT student of Priyadarshini Institute of Engg. & Tech.,Nagpur, 2010 batch. I got placed at Tech Mahindra with the blessings of God, My family & well wishers. And yes Freshersworld helped me a lot...It was a 3 stage procedure1.Online Aptitude Test2.Technical Interview3. GD + HR Presentation started exactly at 10.00 am.on 7th Jan. They gave nice presentation & explained the procedure for online apti.They will give unique username & password to you to access the online test paper.Different paper sets are there, so don't peep into neighbor's PC.1. Aptitude Test Apti had 100 questions to be solved in 60 mins. Questions were divided into 6 sections1. Verbal reasoning2. Non-verbal reasoning3 Quantitative Aptitude4 English I5 English II6 English IIIThere was sectional cut-off. They told us there was no negative marking. But after results were out for Apti, many of the students who solved whole paper could not cleared the Apti. No. of candidates clearing the apti was less, so there must be a negative marking. Solve English Section first, they were so easy. Synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension, filling blanks with proper verbs, adjectives, prepositions, etc. Above average student can also solve it in 15-20 mins. No need to go through Barrons.Verbal reasoning & non-verbal reasoning were easy. R.S. Aggarwal is more than enough. Go through it. Practice all type of questions from it. Different sets had different problems. so don't left any part of R.S A.

Quantitative part had 12 questions. Some were very easy, some were easy but lengthy, 1-2 were really tough. Try to give them at least 15-20 mins.Results were out in 20 mins. My friends told me i cleared the apti. Since i had little doubt abt my Quantitative & sectional cut-off was there, i didn't believe them. But then I heard my name, WOW, What a moment!!! a cleared most difficult hurdle of my way. Though TechM apti was easy but sectional cut-off(& probable negative marking) makes it difficult Only 10-25% can clear such an EASY Aptitude Test. Then they give a form to fill to us. They asked for general information such as Educational details, passport details, family details,languages known, career objective for next 3 years (be specific such as system analyst, software testing, etc.)Future educational plans(eg, M. Tech. DON'T WRITE MBA IN HRM particular, You may jeopardize your selection in HR Round)Mine was 2nd no. for Technical Interview. He was a nice & friendly. I asked him for permission to come in.He let me in & asked me to take my sit. Thanking him, I sat & interview started.T.I.: Tell me about Yourself & Family Background.Me : Blah... blah...blah...Told him about my strengths & related them with my achievements.T.I.: Your brothers works as software engineers? where?Me.: Told.T.I. : Which brach in .......?Me. : Sir, I don't know the exact address, but it's near ...........T.I.: (Smiling). Okkay.I got it.T.I. : Your place of birth is "Yerli"! Where is it?Me: told.T.I.: Is there any lake near Tumsar?Me: Yes sir, There is Chandpur lake. It's a famous tourist attraction.T.I.: So, You are maharashtrian?Me.: No sir,basically I am Hindi-sider.T.I. : But born & brought up in Maharashtra.Me. : Yes sir.T.I: You can read Bengali???Me: Yes Sir.T.I.: How?Me: Many of my college friends are Bengali. M. Tech but after 4 years.T.I: Ok Sanket, You may go now.Me: Thank you sir. It lasted for abt 20 mins I was really disappointed with my interview. I knew the answers of the questions but didn't remembered those & I was angry on myself, shouting , yelling & really scared that i wuold not get through the TI. I wanted to answer all the questions & those 2 "DON'T KNOW"s were really hard to me to digest. I was waiting for TI result keeping my fingers crossed. I was confident, loud & clear while answering his questions. Even I said Don't Know Loud & clear. Always gave answers after taking a small pause. Kept eye contact with him & shows eagerness in my eyes while listening to him.That worked for me. Some guys were asked for their favrt subject & que based on it., abt project, DBMS, ckts(ET students).Some guys were asked for only 1-2 technical questions, rest were all HR questions. It was TI + HR in fact. Results were declared at around 9 pm. I was overjoyed. I knew now I can easily clear GD+HR round. I was confident about my selection. They gave us declaration form to fill & told to be ready with self-attested documents (college ID+ previous mark-sheets, 10, 10+2 mark-sheets photocopies)

At 10pm, they announced that further round would be held on tomorrow. we returned. Next morning, HR took GD+HR. He told some groups to choose the topics themselves, to some he gave the topic. In my case, he gave us topic "whether marriage is necessary in Indian society." Total 6 were there in my group He grouped us & placed me in Against marriage. It was easy for me & I was confident about my selection. One guy had written MBA in HRM as his future career. HR shouted at him," If you want to be HR, why are you here. Go & do your MBA. We want Technical People" That guy gave him some lame reason. So, Don't try to fool HR, he is smart & know more than you. Do speak something in GD, you will get selected. HR didn't ask me anything, but he asked some candidates about some significant people of India, Mogul Empire, hobbies, abt attitude, latest issues, etc. Other topics in GD were Separation of states, Capital Punishment to Kasab, Divorce laws, such current issues. Final Results were declared after an 1:30 hrs. My name was there. Package was 2.9lpa That was the greatest moment of happiness of my life. I've got a job!!!! Only 3 from my branch were selected including me. One was my best friend. Total 18 were finally placed from about 135 students of my college who sat for apti. Very few candidates were rejected during TI & then during HR. Almost 90% guys who cracked the Apti got placed. Remember, if you cleared the Apti, rest will be much easier to you. For TechM, go through R.S. Aggarwal thoroughly.It's sufficient. Remember Time Limit.Solve all the sections. At least 60% questions from each section first to clear sectional cut-off & then try to attempt others. Complete English Sections first, they are easy. In skill set, write about only those languages where u are really confident & perfect. Better you write only C & prepare thoroughly & clear all the concepts abt C. Refer Let Us C by Kanetkar for C. Be ready to answer about your project, many question are based on your resume & form you fill before entering TI. So think before writing something there.I thank Freshersworld, it was immensely helpful to me. It was my first online apti,TI & GD, & I got placed. I got idea for TechM preps from Freshersworld & things became easy for me. Pattern was similar to that discussed here. BEST OF LUCK!!!

14th Feb 2011, Hello friends, let me take this opportunity to share my Tech Mahindra experience with u.. The overall selection procedure stretched 15 tedious hours from 9 in the morning to 1 at night! 31 out of 162 were finally selected. The selection is made on the basis of 3 rounds:

1. Online Test(Aptitude and English)

2. Technical Round

3. HR Round

The ONLINE TEST consisted of:

Aptitude => 40 min 70 questions.. with +1/-1 marking. There were 3 sections and the questions were of medium and high difficulty level...there were questions from all spheres: time n distance, hcf lcm, ratio, surds, age, upstream downstream, compound interest, logical reasoning, picture matching etc... I suggest u to attempt only the confident ones and not to attempt doubtful questions. Also try ur best not to peek on the countdown timer, it might just saturate ur mind.. I tried my best, but cud finish with only 59/70 question attempts

English => 40min 100 questions.. The english was very very easy infact... i bet u can finish all 100 in less than 20min.. there were 7 sections.. each were pretty easy.. prepositions, articles, synonyms, antonyms etc..

the online test stretched from 2:00pm to 3:40pm. The results were announced @ around 4:15pm... Out of 162 aspirants, 71 were selected for the technical round

TECHNICAL ROUND : this was the toughest round as they were testing all ur abilities... I suggest u to thoroughly prepare one fav subject... and go thru urs basics well.. the technical panel were throwing in all types of question, including 11th and 12th class physics and chemistry questions. U may even be asked to solve a puzzle! Approx 10-15min per individual was the interview time

I suggest u to reply confidently. if ur not sure about the answer, b frank and tell the truth... try not to press the panic button and make sure the interview goes on like a conversation, rather than a cruel viva session.

As of my case, since I'm from Electrical n electronics background, the first question thrown at me was why I'm opting for an IT telecom company... then I was asked abt the projects and abt any hands on technical experience. I was also asked to comment on android, software testing, software maintenance etc to which I replied i had to knowledge. it was a friendly conversation and the interviewer was telling me abt the importance of working in a team, problems that I may face in IT sector, difficulties in software testing etc... and I kept on smiling and saying that I'm ready to face the challenge.

The technical round stretched from 4:30pm to 10pm. 45 out of 71 were shortlisted for the final round: the HR.

HR ROUND: If u thot that clearing Technical Round was enough to clear the HR round,,, u r wrong... the HR was as challenging as the other 2 rounds...We were called in group of 6, and were asked to give self introduction, to talk on various current topics, group discussions, and were even asked to cross question each other.. Fluency, presentation and confidence was thoroughly tested.. around 15-20min per batch was the time taken... the HR round finished at 12:30am...

final results were declared at around 1am.. and 31 candidates were finally selected(including me!!!)

I was quite relieved as he told me to wait for HR.But still was very tensed.Finally,rsults came out and i was overjoyed to hear my name.It was like one step closer to my dream.Some of my friends were told that their HR will be taken the next day,but i alongwith some of my friends were told that our HR will be taken the same day.Finally,it was time for HR interview.At first he asked for all the photocopies of my marksheets,the HR form and my CV Interviewer:Tell me something about yourselfMe:Told Interviewer:What should be the qualities of a team player?Me:Told Then he gave me a situation and told how will you act in it Interviewer:Ok,tell me something about Tech MahindraMe:Told Interviewer:Ok He gave me a form,and told me to sign it. I was full with excitement,and was eagerly waiting for the final results.It came out a day later,and out of 46 students selected from a strength of 300,i was one.I cannot describe that feeling.It was a dream come true for me.Thank you god.My parents waited for this very day.

A few things to share with u ppl:For technical,prepare your basics well,whether u r from it,cse,ece or ee.Your summer training as well as final year project is very important,so be prepared to answer questions from them.you should know your CV well.And finally,be confident. To begin with i attended the TECHMAHINDRA campus interview at DAYANANDSAGAR COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,BANGALORE. The day started on a positive note. To begin with there was preplacement talk for an hour. After which we would be havin our online aptitude test.I had my test scheduled in the 2nd batch so I had to wait till 12:30 or so to attend the test.

The interview consists of 3 rounds:

1) Aptitude test2) Technical interview3) HR interview

1) Aptitude test It consists of two sections divided into 50 minutes and 30 minutes. The analytical,verbal,non-verbal,quantitative apti all come in first section which u need to answer for 70 marks. Be very quick in this section , there will be sectional cut-off,no negative marking.The second section consists of English where you will have to answer 100 questions in 30 minutes. If you are good at English don’t worry ,I finished this section in 22-23 minutes. R S Agarwal is sufficient for apti.

After finishing this round they told they would announce the results. They did announce it after an hour , and my name was one amongst the 80 students that were short listed.

2) Technical interview

The technical interview began soon after the aptitude results were announced. My interview was on the next day as there were so many candidates, on the following day I had my interview. He asked me my name,later tell me about yourself,after which he started asking questions on the project which I had done. Probably this was an advantage for considering the fact that many hadn’t done projects.In the technical round be CONFIDENT and most importantly honest i.e. answer questions you know and the one’s you don’t know frankly tell you don’t know.After the technical round I was confident.

3) HR interview

HR interview is quite easy , he asked me few general questions on the current topics, and later he asked me any questions-never miss this opportunity of asking him some good questions about the company . Be clear in whatever you say.

Your soft skills count along with your technical knowledge so take care of your soft skills.After the interview they told they will be announcing the results after an hour. They did

announce the results the people who had come to hire were friendly and good. The names of all selected candidates were read out. My name was one amongst them I WAS VERY HAPPY. I was selected in my very first interview.47 students were selected from our college. I thanked my parents , teachers and GOD.

So its all about being yourself on the day of your interview,it doesn’t matter whether you are a topper or an average student,its using your skills on the day of interview. All the best friends.

All round was held at TechMahindra office at salt lake Kolkatanow Written test: Questions: 170 time duration: 80 mins (no sectional cut-off and no negative marking) The written paper consisted of the following section: (English: 100 questions and aptitude: 70)Aptitude (50 minutes)

1) Logical, analytical reasoning: 35 questions (easy)2) Non verbal: 20 questions (easy)3) Quantitative aptitude: 15 questions (easy)

English (30 minutes): English is very easy. Even there are 100 questions have to answer within 30 minutes they all are of 10th class standard. Follow Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning by R.S Aggarwal. Analytical section consists of questions on series (alphabetical & numerical) and figures. Non verbal consists of questions like Apple: fruit :: parrot:_________. Quantitative section consists of questions on time and work, time and distance, ages, clocks, averages, percentages, etc. Verbal sections consists of simple grammatical questions, antonyms, synonyms, sentence completion & 2 short passages. Friends note that in Tech Mahindra getting shortlisted is the major hurdle. Once shortlisted other rounds are just a cake walk. Time management is the key. Do not panic. We don't know cut-off but I think cut-off was high because only 18 were selected out of 150 in my round

Second technical round In this round all questions are programing so I was confident that I will clear this round 1. Tell me about yourself?2. Print fibonacci series using recursion.3. sql query to print student name who get 3rd max marks in student table.4. Swaping two variable without using 3rd varible. I answer all questions in very neat and clean manner. They was very impressed from mewenever I was answering the questions they told me very good kanchan and now who asked a difficult question. That was related to microprossor programming. I just told. I don't know 6. Show overriding concept using program. They was very impressed and gave me permission to attend HR round I was very cool and thinking I approx crossed the TechMahindra. HR round Tell me your family background?Why should TechMahindra hire you?1 year gap reasonExpectation from TechMahindra and so on
