Where We Started
TechnologyOne and MBRC identified Refactoring work:
• On prem: 49 Connectors to other Databases, 396 refactored items.
• ETLS: 790 total ETLs, 109 ETLs refactored. Now 463 csv files sent to cloud via
attunity sync.
• XLOne : 238 XLOne reports residing outside of the T1 server folder
• 39 reports had SQL queries - rewritten as an XLOne report
• 73 reports had macro embedded - removed and saved as an .xlsx file extension
• 25 reports were in excel version 97-2003 - updated to excel worksheet.
Other Refactoring:
• 4 spreadsheets with live DB connections refactored into XLOne or SSRS reports
over DB Edge
• 3 SSAS models refactored to point to DB Edge
• 10 SSIS jobs refactored to point to DB Edge
• Approx. 100 GIS scripts and queries
• 144 SSRS reports reviewed, 45 were able to be converted into 33 XLOnes, 6 ETLs
(replacing 11 SSRS reports)
Improved Processing Speed for WO with large volumes of assets
Timesheet: 2 step approval process working in the Cloud
Edge database – replication issues:
• Attunity DB Edge Data Sync Server for on prem reporting: connection to other
systems sometimes failed to replicate what was in the Tech One database
Database locks: management by cancelling jobs sometimes problematic
ISSUES RESOLVED
Accommodate For Cloud
Some impacts to be aware of:
• [email protected] - included IP range Dynamically changing IP resolved from name using powershell
script daily. To allow @moretonbay.qld.gov.au emails back into mbrc.
• Browser pop ups - Chrome and IE added to trusted sites for TechnologyOne popups.
• Refactored open url powertags etc to open in new tab.
• Cut and paste and paste special - need to use the Ci Cloud Clipboard now and this is slow.
• Uploading/downloading documents can be a multi step process and will need some education.
• Filename length the data folder path length changes if not using connected content. This is longer in the cloud for MBRC
and impacts the filename length a user can upload to purchase requisitions.
• Setup of Attunity DB Edge Data Sync Server for on prem reporting/connection to other systems
• Firewall rules to allow TechnologyOne
• No AD Sync (Azure AD Sync Coming) – new/terminated/disabled users needing to be reported and manually reviewed
daily.
• Speed tests at all locations – no greater than 70ms latency at any site recommended
• XLOne Macros no longer function – refactor
• WAN Optimisation – link and carrier redundancy
• Ensure Browser (Chrome, IE etc.) are up to date
