PART 2: READING COMPREHENSION (20 MARKS)
Read the passage about Todd and do the exercises that follow.
Hi, I’m Todd and I guess I lead a rather healthy diet. I do eat
lots of fruits and vegetables, but I also eat junk food, sadly.
I love all fruits except pineapple. I hate pineapple. I don't
know why, but I don't like to chew it. It just feels funny.
However, I really love apples, oranges, bananas and
strawberries. I usually have an apple every morning for breakfast. It's very easy to eat. I
just love apples because you can take them to school. I also like oranges, and I love orange
juice. So sometimes, I make fresh orange juice in my kitchen. But my favourite fruits are
bananas and strawberries. I love eating bananas and strawberries together, so my favourite
snack is to cut up a banana and some strawberries and mix them together, and then eat
them.
Apart from fruit, I try to have a salad every day. I have a special salad which I make
myself. I call it my crunchy, chunky salad. It’s composed of carrots, cucumbers and
tomatoes. First, I cut the carrots and cucumbers into small little squares. And then I cut up
the tomatoes and I mix them together. All these mixed together create really pretty
colours. And when you eat the salad, it's very crunchy and chunky because of the little
squares. So, that’s why I call it my crunchy, chunky salad.
I don’t usually cook vegetables, but I do cook asparagus. Asparagus is probably my
favourite vegetable because it's very easy to cook; you just cut the asparagus up into tiny
pieces and put it in a bowl with some water in the microwave for about 30 seconds. So I
eat asparagus a lot.
