PROPOSED PROJECT
1. Rationale for the Course
India is a fast developing economy, with a large and growing young population – which on
one hand is its biggest advantage but on the other, could become a huge challenge if not
harnessed appropriately.
Quality and access to education is a major problem in India. Our education system focuses
more on Rote based learning and no stress is given on hands on learning methodology. It
lacks engaging, motivating and hands-on learning approach. Research aptitude not developed
from an early age results in widening gap in available talent and industry needs/demands. No
practical and hands-on experience restricts young minds. When we talk about 21st Century
Education and key competencies the whole echo-system on an educational institution has to
be attuned to that. The educational institutions need to evolve an environment which is
conducive to learning, a safe well-arranged and well maintained infrastructure which is
suited not only learning but suited for developing community and social skills and also
fosters innovation and creativity.
Use of technology in everyday life is far greater than ever before and will increase many fold
in the near future. Education leaders are waking up to the importance of STEM (science,
technology, engineering and maths) education, use of technology and hands-on learning in
primary, middle and higher education. Students must learn application of core STEM
Concepts and acquire essential life skills in order to be successful in their professional lives.
As technology has progressed, the accessibility of robotics has improved.
2. Course Aim
The aim of the course is to enhance the practical skills and application based knowledge in
students by hands-on activities through STEAMED Robotics kit and equipments.
3. Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the current scenario and advancement in the field of Robotics.
2. Understand the importance of 5C’s in learning which is more essential in 21st century
learning.
3. Work as a team, collaborate with the team members, share the ideas and come up with
new innovations.
4. Apply the theoretical concepts and convert them into a creative product.
5. Understand the root cause of the problem and take necessary and essential steps to
solve it. Thus enhancing the Problem Solving Skills.
6. Identify the right component and assemble at the right place to obtain the desired
structure of the Robot.
7.
To achieve these objectives, Skyrim will provide Infrastructure and Tools with certified Trainer
so that students work on a dozen projects in class and can use a variety of robot elements and
machine parts to design and complete robots, which they studying theoretically
COURSE CONTENT
The course content designed by the R&D team of Skyrim Innovation, along with multiple schools
focuses on domains such as “Hands-On Learning” and “Learning by Doing”. Schools following
CBSE, ICSE, IB and other State Boards will be able to relate the concepts taught in regular
classroom sessions with the concepts covered in iRimBot. The content is very closely mapped to
the regular curriculum (Standards 2nd to 12th) of the school and easily integrates with the regular
functioning of the school.
iRimBot LAB I For students from 2nd , 3rd ,4th & 5th Stdn.
iRimBot LAB II For students from 6th , 7th & 8th Stdn.
iRimBot LAB III For students from 9th ,10th,11th & 12th Stdn.
iRimBot LAB – I: Thoroughly designed and developed at our R&D center at Skyrim Innovation,
Bangalore consists of Hardware which is utilized by students to make different model and use
joysticks or remote to control the hardware mapped to their Science and Mathematics curriculum
of respective standards.
iRimBot LAB – II: Students will learn about various types of sensors that are used for different
applications in the Industries today. Using Sensors, students will be able to design and build
Robots that can make their own decisions and perform the specified task without human
intervention.
iRimBot LAB – III: It is a very unique and specific offering that is at a very early stage in
Educational Robotics. Here, students are trained in programming and coding on different
Programming Languages like C, Java Script, XML, Python, PHP, Lua and Dart depending upon
the curriculum of the Intuition. This offering, designed and developed specifically for selected
students of class 9 to 12, will give the students an edge over the others in terms of understanding
of the real world of applied Robotics.
Students will be using Skyrim Innovation designed electronic board and will design Robots that
can make their own decisions. The iRimBot LAB – III content is designed as per the mindset of
selected students who are programming enthusiasts of the school.
HARDWARE TOOLS
SOFTWARE FOR PROGRAMMING: SCRATCH & BLOCKY
Scratch is a Visual Programming Language developed by MIT USA and further enhanced by
Berkeley University USA that has been developed keeping the Intellect level of students of class
6 to 8 in mind. Blocky used in 9th to 12th standard is developed by Google. Scratch & Blocky
enables the student to concentrate on the Logarithmic aspect of the programming without
worrying about the Syntax errors. Also, complements the hardware and gives the student a
platform to give numerous instructions to the Robot. Some salient features of are:
Easy to use Graphical Interface
Simplifies approach to Programming
Develops programming acumen in the student
Helps the student develop logical approach while solving problems

IMPLEMENTATION OF STEAMED ROBOTIC LAB
Strategy for Implementation
Passionate teachers/trainers from schools and teacher training
institutes can be short listed, interviewed and selected to be trained
by Skyrim to implement the training program.
Setting up the infrastructural requirements (Setting up Innovation Lab)
Drawing up the training program.
Monitoring of trainer’s performance.
Continual refresher program
Mentoring the Trainers:
The Training Program at any level will include aspects of
handholding for the trainers. Regular monitoring and feedback of
the trainer will be provided to improve quality and enhance
effectiveness of the program.
Training Methodology:
The methodology of the program focuses on:
Activity-based learning in Innovation Lab
Seminar and Presentations by the participants’
Experiential learning
Creative teaching and learning methods
Technology-based learning
Reflective and collaborative learning
Plan of action
Establishing Robotics laboratories in Schools
Providing Trainers or Training faculty members on functionalities of Robotics
Conducting of experiential learning sessions for students and enabling learning by doing
innovative projects.
Assessing the impact of this project through a structured survey and feedback mechanism
APPLIED STEAMED MAPPING AND EVALUATION, BASED ON MORE THAN 40
PLUS PARAMETERS
OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT:
The 5 C’s of 21st century learning is developed in each and every student.
Critical thinking capability is increased:
The Framework for 21st Century Learning has broken down critical thinking and problem
solving into four essential skills.
Reason Effectively – Use inductive and deductive reasoning appropriately
Use Systems Thinking
– Understand how parts interact with each other to make a whole
– Analyze parts of complex systems
Make Judgments and Decisions -Evaluate and make arguments based on evidence
-Analyse many points of view
-Make connections between sources of information
-Draw conclusions
-Reflect on experiences
Solve Problems
– Apply skills to alternative problems
– Ask questions to clarify
– Create solutions that are innovative
Creative Thinking skills is enhanced:
Hands-on learning curriculum makes the students more creative and innovative thinkers.
Communication skills is increased:
When students learn and develop their own robots, they want to showcase the same to the world.
As channels or mediums are different, students need to have knowledge of the respective platform
to communicate. With these, student’s communication skills gets improved as they craft or draft
the message as per audience and channel of communication.
Collaboration skills is developed:
Team working is one of the most important skills in the current scenario. When kids work on a
robotic project, they need to work in a group or a team as one can be good in programming skill.
Hence, they need to collaborate with their team members in an open environment. They not only
need to express themselves but also need to listen to others to capture their valuable inputs.
Computing skills is developed:
Computing skills in students help in applying their knowledge in various fields.
Project Impact Study:
Project Impact study is done through Skyrim’s mobile app call SkyLane this app will connect all
the stakeholders and give relevant data and analysis of the Impact for every student.
