43 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1. GENERAL Materials included in this tender are for use in electricity distribution networks including (33) KV overhead lines and associated substations. Tenderer must insure that materials are of the best quality and confirm to the latest BS standards or equivalent. 2. STAY WIRES Stay wires shall be stranded steel wires, manufactured to BS 183, galvanized to BSI BS EN ISO 1461 with a minimum mean coating thickness of 85μm, or related IEC or other standards. With minimum breaking load of 60 K Newton. Stay wires shall be high tensile hot dip galvanized of diameter of (12) mm. They shall be easy to bend and erect (not hard). The outermost layer of stay wire shall be stranded with the right hand lay. 3. Preformed Guy Grips Grips are required for terminating galvanized stay wire at pole and ground levels. They must match (7/4) mm, (6) ton ultimate strength and (12) mm overall diameter galvanized steel stay wire. They must insure excellent mechanical connection and must be easy to install.     TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    1. GENERAL

    2. STAY WIRES

    Stay wires shall be stranded steel wires, manufactured to BS 183,

    4. Thimbles

    Thimble eyes shall be manufactured from standard crescent section

    steel bar as used for thimbles to ISO 2262 and BS EN 13411-1 or

    such other equivalent standard as may be approved. Thimble eyes

    shall be supplied with a gap at the pointed end. These thimbles shall

    suit for 7/4 mm stay wire which has an overall diameter of about 12

    mm. (Attached drawing No. (9-1-E4-133).

    5. Stay Rod

    Stay Rods shall be of an approved tubular turnbuckle adjustable type,

    the tube section of the adjustable rod shall be manufactured from

    heavy gauge steel to BS standard as may be approved and galvanized

    to BS EN ISO 1461. The rod shall be not less than 2440mm long with

    16 mm diameter and a minimum failing load of 60 K.N.

    6. Turnbuckle

    The turnbuckles should be of hot dip galvanized steel. They should be

    tubular manufactured from heavy gauge steel to BS standards of “Eye

    type“. They shall have a minimum failing load of 60 KN. Shape and

    type should be according to the IEC standard. With dimensions and

    two (10mm diameter) holes as in attached drawing.

    Stay Fixture7.

    Complete staying fixtures are required for anchoring purposes of all

    the tension angles and t-off poles

    Fixture must include 2.44 m min. galvanized stay rod and complete

    with baulk plate, mild galvanized steel tubular turnbuckle for

    adjustment, (2) thimbles and (2) preformed guy grips as specified

    except that they should be suitable for (6) ton ultimate strength stay

    wire, thimbles and grips are intended for use at both ends of the stay

    wire i.e. one at the pole top and the other at the stay fixture.

    Fixtures must have (6) ton min. ultimate strength.

    Copper Cable Lugs and straight Ferrule 8.

    The required copper cable lugs shall be suitable for connecting the

    copper cables with copper bus-bar. Copper Cable Lugs and straight

    Ferrule must be of compression type and shall comply with DIN

    46235 or equivalent and the current carrying capacity for lugs shall be

    suitable with the current carrying capacity for cables as specified in

    IEC 60287.

    - Cu cable lugs size 16 mm2 will be used for 16mm2 cables with KWH

    meters so the diameter of screw shall be 8mm.

    9. Bimetallic Cable Lugs

    The required Bimetallic (Copper-Aluminum) cable lugs shall be

    suitable for connecting aluminum cables with copper bus-bars. They

    must be of compression type and shall comply with DIN 46235 or

    equivalent, and the current carrying capacity for lugs shall be suitable

    with the current carrying capacity for cables as specified in IEC

    60287.

    Bolt -Wire Clips with U 10.

    The wire clips should be of hot dip galvanized steel. A zinc coated

    wire clips will NOT be accepted. They should be as shown in the

    attached drawings. (No.9-1-E4-132 , No.9-1-E4-132-A& No.9-1-E4-

    132-B)

    11. TESTS:

    All Components shall be tested in accordance with BS standard or

    equivalent. Tests shall prove the required parameters laid down in the

    specifications, guaranteed schedules and bidder's offer. Detailed test

    certificates shall be submitted to EDCO.

    12. REFERENCE:

    Bidder must include with his offer a detailed list reference indicating

    types, quantities, and years of service of the same offer items he

    supplied as well as detailed address of buyers, particularly these

    buyers having same climatic conditions in the region.

    13. OFFER CATALOGUES AND SAMPLES:

    Each offer should be attached with catalogues with a clear drawing

    with dimensions and other technical specifications for each type of the

    offer items.

    A sample of each type should be submitted with the offer and any

    offer received without drawings and samples will be rejected

    during evaluation without any prior notice.
