Technicians Training Workshop on Good Service Practices in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning held during 23-26 February

“Technicians Training Workshop on Good Service Practices in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning” was held during 23-26 February 2015 at Mirpur

Dhaka under “HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (Stage-I)-UNEP Component” project of the Department of Environment with the guidance of Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, Director General, Department of Environment. The workshop was organize by the Ozone Cell in association with Mirpur Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Merchant Bahumukhi Cooperative Society Ltd., Dhaka The workshop was divided into two

groups. First batch consisting of 50 technicians were trained during 23-24 February 2015. Second batch consisting of 47 technicians were trained during 25-26 February 2015. Al participants were from Mirpur and Pallobi area of Dhaka city. Mr. Quazi Sarwar Imtiaz Hashmi, Additional Director General, Department of Environment and Project Director HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (Stage-I) - UNEP Component Project was present at the inaugural session of the workshop on 23 February 2015 and delivered his speech to the participants of the workshop.

On the first day of each group an

introductory session was conducted by Ozone Cell, Department of Environment. Dr.

Satyandra Kumar

Purkayastha delivered his presentation on ozone layer depletion, its

consequences and what is the role of

refrigeration and air-conditioning servicing technicians in the introductory session. Two day long technical session was conducted by Lead Trainer, Mr. Md. Solaiman and Trainer Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman. During the technical session, refrigerant management, good service practices in installation, maintenance and servicing on refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) equipment was discussed by the trainers. The media of the technical session was interactive based on multimedia and audio visual presentation. Some hands on training on good service practices were also demonstrated.

On the last day of the training at closing session, Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, Director General, Department of Environment was present as the

Chief Guest. The Chief Guest distributed the “Certificate of Participation” among the participants of the workshop. He ineracted with few participants about the effectivity of the workshop and seek if there is any possibility of improvement. He than delivered his speech to the participants. The Project Director and Additional Director General, Department of Environment Mr. Quazi Sarwar Imtiaz Hashmi was also present and delivered his speech to the participants. He assured the refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) service technicians that technicians all around Bangladesh will be trained subsequently. And he will also explore the opportunities, if there are any possibilities to distribute some essential tools to the technicians.
