EXPOSITIONTECHNOLOGY

Frankfurt is the center of financial activities in Europe. The European Central Bank systems are hosted here and control all assets of the European member states. Here is the place where software engineers program the most advanced asset management systems and trading AI in Europe. Because the financial elite needs access to data everywhere at every time, almost everyone is wired. The Immatrix is accessible from everywhere, displaying world wide events and their effects on the global economies as calculated by the AI's. Daily life in old Frankfurt is comfortable for the banks employees, as specialized AI's assist with all day to day tasks. Because even nanoseconds of connectivity lag could cost a bank billions of euros the data transfer rates in Frankfurt are among the highest in Europe. All required electricity is produced in solar- and water-based plants. Everything that can be recycled, will be recycled. Everything.

ENVIRONMENT

Due to the early adoption of natural preservation laws and the pushing of ecologic power generation the Frankfurt Main Cityplex is remarkably green for a plex this size. Skyscrapers reach for the clouds as monuments to the financial prowess of their owners. Lavish parks cower to their feet and sprinkle the cityscape with green spots. The banks enclose themselves in the old Frankfurt area in gigantic arcologies while the former suburbs of Frankfurt, now called "outer sectors, melt together in a fantastic amalgam of different building styles. For a trained eye it is easy to discern in which era a former suburb boomed by analyzing the dominant architecture and grade of deterioration. Through the middle of the plex the Main river flows, separating old Frankfurt in two halves and providing an alternative for freight transport. The incredibly big Sub Orbital Airport South west of the plex's center is a hub as buzzing as a beehive. SubOrb crafts launch every few minutes to places all over the world and beyond, their silver bodies reflect the light from the cityplex while screaming into the Atmosphere.

SOCIETY

People from all over the world work in the financial sector or make their living by working for it. Life in old Frankfurt is dominated by the financial masterminds of Europe. Old laws require humans to control the AI`s and actually make the decisions even today. Armies of well dressed men and women live in highly controlled environments, always on the lookout for the next big deal, the next insider tip or the next change in financial laws they can exploit. They are always open for a new kick or experience and a career is usually short but intense. The treasured AI programmers live hidden away, locked in the bank towers while secretly devising the next investment routine, the next risk algorithm that will give their bank the edge over the competition. The people who make it all run live in the outer sectors of the plex: the secretaries, the hookers, the airport personnel and drug dealers. This divide leads to tensions as some leftwing tendencies start to flare up again. Demonstrations are not uncommon but usually confined to the outer sectors. Class think, jealousy, greed and a sense of entitlement in all layers of society are festering and growing every day. It is only a matter of time until it all boils over.
