    NEW PARADIGMS

    The changes we addressed now are extensive and diverse:social, economical, cultural, ideological, science-technological,and were developed by Humanity in the course of only onegeneration.

    They are of such magnitude, depth, and progressive increasingacceleration, that the valid paradigms of this era, were not

    capable of interpreting, or explaining them.

    BEYOND CRISIS & CONFLICT

    z So, today, not only we are witnesses, but fundamentallyprotagonists of an extraordinary conceptual revitalization,beyond crisis and conflict.

    z We are working in the construction of new paradigms thatintend again, to give more precise and opportune answerswhen the global warming clock is counting, also, theincreasing conscience in regards to caring and protecting theenvironment, and when the respect of citizen rights acquires

    not only more strength but something more important,demands and are receiving from all of us, more flexibility,and greater tolerance.

    Theory & Practice

    This paper intends to emphasize two basic aspects that are bothopposite and complementary :

    z one theoretical component about social regularities, sociallaws;

    z and one practical component refers to the proposal of puttingin practice the experience of Social Sciences and Sociology sowe can contribute to solve the pressing needs to enhancesocietys quality of life, in particular, the most vulnerable

    sectors, through the development of Applied Investigationoriented towards Technological Parks.

    Hurry Up!!!

    z I think that we assit to a new era a new colectivevission is being developed, where new scientific andentrepreneurial efforts and social practices teach ussomething about the growing of new andmultidisciplinary theory, (social sciencies need naturalsciencies and vice versa) but.

    z We must hurry up!!!! maybe, not only from ideologybut especifically from science.

    z Im feeling that we, sociologists, are not walking withthe rushly contemporarycompass life.

    The end of determinism (not

    the end of regularities!)

    z 1. Globalization constitutes a historical regularity, asocioeconomic developmental law, whose essentialdirection focuses towards excellence, and quality in

    all of the orders of social and economic life, in theintegration and the interdependency;z (Of course, that, we must never ever forget to

    repeat with Goethe, -to cure us in health-, since in

    itself is gray, like every theory..only the golden treeof the life is green)

    Definitions from the market

    z Almost all of the products with overhead to 10pounds, and to 10 dollars are global compounds.(1)

    z This so simple and categorical definition puts in

    evidence that beyond theorization of theglobalization phenomenon, Mr. fact has alreadytaken its place in the reality concert.

    Right now..there is no globalization: we

    are living the region time..!

    2. Globalization currently moves in the actual phase ofregionalization (European Union - EU), and simultaneouslyhas developed a strengthening process of the local whichcontributes to forge the identity of the nations that are still inprocess of consolidation, but this time, from the urbanperspective, when in the previous century it was done fromthe rural perspective.

    Productivity + Well being =Competitivityz 3. Globalization, just as every contemporary social

    phenomenon, possesses a paradoxical character,but, it is irreversible and progressive;

    z Its fundamental motor is technological and scientificbut it responds to the actual demands ofincreasingly increments of productivity, and

    competitiveness in every order;

    Globalization and Modernization

    Modernization

    Globalization

    are correltatives proccess with a progresively feed back: the major globaldynamics, the major modernization standard of a any nation; and, if, in

    essence, both proccess trend to improves population quality of life, botheither express the contemporary human development levelthat stillmaintence the principal paradox of our existence: rich and poverty.

    z 4. The modernization process of the nations,are correlated and complementary to theglobalization process, so, when we saysglocal, we also must think about the

    potential and the amount of feed back ofthis universal symbiosis.

    Latin America

    z The modernization processes are developing in diverse regions andnations of low to medium productivity;

    z Particularly in Latin America, where the accelerated changes of thestructural branches of those economies are no longer Primary, and turnedinto Secondary, and basically Tertiary;

    z Where, as much State and Society, as a whole, update their functions andforms to deliver better services to the population.

    (Latin American Countries flow like tributary rivers in a vast basin ofimpetuous and unstoppable social, economical, cultural, and ideologicalchanges but, the satisfaction of the just demands, will only be met if the

    resources exist in the sufficient quantity and quality, if we grow as a newkind of entrepreneur with real social responsibility.)

    Butwith social participation!

    z Productivity, is no longer a category in economy and it istransformed into a sociological category, or at least, we cantalk about social productivity that includes economicproductivity;

    z Now, it is less likely to generate high productivity with lowquality of life;

    z I will take you to the future, even if I have to drag you(Peter the Grate), or, recently the Pinochet historyshow us

    that actually it is inconceivable;z Social participation marks the frame to a new and higher

    racial, religious, and social tolerance and respect.

    New global government

    11/07/2013 16

    We agree with this idea of the future global government, whichwithout a doubt will function based on a new theory thatintegrates social and natural science;Natural Sciences take the first step with Prigogine, the Owen

    brothers contributions and many other other scientists;The ball is on our side, it is time for the social sciences torespond:the new Thermodynamic Science, and its progressiveactualizations with its operative mechanism, the TechnologicalParks, are part of the new type of multidisciplinary answers.

    NNUU resolutions:

    z Intensify cooperation with the view to reduce the quantity of the effectsof natural disasters, brought-about by mankind

    z In Ecuador, the most vulnerable social sector, congruently receives mayor impact due tonatural disasters, and have an insufficient capability to face disasters of such magnitude.The floods produced by the 1982-83 El Nio phenomenon (the annual accumulatedprecipitation in Guayaquil excided the 4,000 millimeters), generated losses that exceeded

    the $650 millions, with important loses in the production sector of (63%); infrastructureof (33%); and social sectors of (4%); The total amount of damages caused by the 1997-1998 El Nio phenomenon in Ecuador was estimated to be in the $ 2869,3 millions ofdollars. In relationship to the 1982-1983 El Nio, the economic losses were multipliedin more than 4 times; with reports of dozen of deaths, 3,700 evacuated, 10,000 aided,and approximately 2,000 damaged homes. There are cases where a high percentage of

    the population disposes off the black waters directly into the homes backyard, or inseptic tanks, which turned the zone very vulnerable to deceased transition. Theparadox is that the same population of Vinces, does not have running waterservices. Only 9 locations (17%), 3 rural and 6 urban locations, have running water, butin general, it is only from wells.11/07/2013
