PURPOSE

• Discuss a proposal to replace aging Teacher Laptops and keep them current with an ongoing Replacement Plan

• Propose an ongoing replacement plan for Student Devices (Chromebooks)

• Propose an ongoing replacement plan for Staff Computers

• Describe the roll-out and implementation plan

STUDENT DEVICES: CHROMEBOOKS• LCAP Goal 2.4: student-to-device ratio shall be 3 to 1

• January 2014: GUSD began purchasing Chromebooks

• June 2014: Chromebook quantity reached 1,300

• June 2015: Chromebook quantity reached 4,900

• June 2016: Chromebook quantity reached 8,400

• Today GUSD has almost 10,000 devices

• Some Chromebooks are reaching their 4 year life expectancy

RECOMMENDATION

• Allocate $352,590 annually for five years for the lease of 1,200 Lenovo Yoga 370 laptops for teachers

• Allocate approximately $66,000 one time to provide all teachers with capability to wirelessly project to their classroom displays

• Allocate $654,333 annually to sustain the quantity of Chromebooks needed for a 3-to-1 student/device ratio

• Allocate $220,000 annually to sustain other staff computers
