Dear Parish Family,
We are quickly approaching our one-year anniversary of our weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament We began on Thursday, April 24, 2014 after the 7:30 AM morning Mass. What a great blessing it has been to have available this intimate time with Jesus each week! We are always the center of His attention and having a weekly appointment with Him helps us to keep Him in the proper place, the first place, in our lives. Someone told me (after their first visit), that the hour seemed to pass so quickly that when the next person showed up he looked at my watch to see why they were there so early and his hour had already passed. Another Adorer said, “it is the best hour of my week.” There is a section in the Catholic Week that reports when and where Adoration is held throughout the Archdiocese. At a recent meeting of the area Knights of Columbus, one of the men asked me if the time listed for our parish was monthly. I proudly told him that it was weekly! He looked surprised but expressed his desire to come by for a visit. We have a couple of hours that will need an Adorer soon. One couple, who is here for about 6 months a year, will be heading back up north at the end of April and will need a replacement. Their hour is 10:00-11:00 AM each Thursday. And when I leave the 12:00 Midnight - 1:00 AM hour will be in need of an Adorer. If you are interested in either of these time slots, please fill out a form in the vestibule and drop it in the collection or call the church office. We could also use some more substitutes, especially for the summer when some regular Adorers will be on vacation. If you are interested, fill out the form mentioned above to be added to the list of substitutes. And even if you are not available for a regular hour or as a substitute, I invite everyone to regularly drop by for a visit to the Blessed Sacrament. That time will be well spent as we prepare to spend eternity in the presence of the same Jesus in Heaven! In Christ, our Risen Lord, Father James Dean

The annual Saint Benedict Catholic School German Festival will be here soon. This fun and entertaining event will be taking place on Saturday, April 25th. It will begin at 6:30 AM with The Raven Run. Later there will be other entertainment such as music by the school’s choirs, and professional singers, and SBCS dance and cheer group performances. Examples of the type of functions are as follows: First Communion, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School, church dinners and summer fun days. In order to facilitate this effort, it is requested that anyone in the parish who takes pictures of one of these events and would like to share the picture with the parish; please send an email with the picture attached to either Carl Klingelberger ([email protected]) or Erin Faulk ([email protected]). We will then print out the pictures and post them periodically on the bulletin board for everyone in the parish to see.
