JACK MCKEON MARLINS CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC
Jack McKeon enters his eighth season as Special Assistant to the Marlins Owner Jeffery Loria, a post he was named to following the 2005 season.
McKeon previously managed the Kansas City Royals from 1973 to 1975, the Oakland Athletics in 1977 and 1978, the San Diego Padres from 1988 to 1990, and the Cincinnati Reds from 1997 to 2000. From 1981 to 1990, he served as General Manager of the Padres, forming the team which won the 1984 National League Pennant. He finished his career managing the Florida Marlins from 2003 – 2005, where he led the Marlins to three of the six winning seasons in franchise history.
McKeon was named National League Manager of the Year in 1999 and 2003. The latter award was a result of leading the Marlins, who had a record below .500 when he took the job as their manager during the season, to a World Series victory. With that victory, he became, at 72, the oldest manager to win the World Series.

THE MIRACLE LEAGUE OF MIAMI DADE The Miracle League makes dreams come true for children with special needs by providing an opportunity for children with mental and/or physical challenges to play baseball on special custom designed rubber turf fields that accommodates wheelchairs and walkers. Since the Inaugural Year of Marlins Park, the Marlins are working closely with the Parks Foundation of Miami Dade County to partner with The Miracle League to build the first field for our youth in Miami Dade County. Every child deserves to experience joy and community through baseball. With miracles happening every day, all children in our community deserve the chance too.
