access to public services To get citizens of Baton Rouge behind
public transportation improvements To put the voice of inner city baton
rouge into the mainstream media
What are we going to do? Film/produce a video
highlighting the CATS system in relation to public services in Baton Rouge
Thursday 7/27/06 Visits to EBRP School Board,
Public Housing Dept, Social Services Dept.
Quality of Life
How can we have a positive influence on the quality of life in our community?
Diagram
Economic Development
Efficient and inexpensive transportation are the keys to:
Social services If people do not have reliable
transportation, they cannot be a positive role in our local economy
Access to education and jobs
The effects on healthcare More people going to
community centers and hospitals in early stages of illnesses translates to MORE MONEY, right?
WRONG: in the long run, money will be saved because it is cheaper to treat a person before they get worse or spread their illness
FACTS
CATS is budgeted only 2.1 million dollars
Dayton, Ohio budgets 35 million (population of 166,179)
