A retired older couple returned to a Mercedes deal-ership where the car they had been interested in was sold to a beautiful, leggy blonde in a mini skirt and halter top. The old man was visibly upset and said to the salesman sharply, “Young man, I thought you said you would hold that car until we raised the $95,000 asking price, yet I just overheard you close the deal for $75,000 to the lovely young lady there. And, if I remember right, you said there was no way you could discount this model. The salesman took a deep breath, reached for a large glass of water. “Well, what can I tell you? She had the cash ready, didn’t need any help fi-nancing and Sir, just look at her, how could I resist,” replied the salesman sheepishly. Just then the young woman approached the senior couple and handed the car keys to the old man and said, “I told you I could get that idiot to lower the price. See you later, Dad and Happy Birthday!

Paula Hefflefinger Asst. Manager/Nutrition Manager Kitchen Corner …..make new friends, but keep the old, one

is silver, the other is gold - Our golden anniversary is upon us, so please mark your calendar and get your tickets! A local food stylist and professional chef , Chris Koch, will be preparing a feast featuring surf and turf, a tricolor potato torta and green beans Martinique. And, of course, a bounty of desserts. We will also be enjoying entertainment and some other surprises with our old and new friends. You won’t want to miss this historical event. Please join us for a celebra-tion unlike any other on Friday, November 17th as we celebrate Neshaminy Activity Center’s 50th Anniversary. Speaking of history, here are just a few facts you’ll en-joy reminiscing over….The year was 1967, and football fans were enjoying Super Bowl I, gas was 33 cents a gal-lon, a brand new house cost $14,250 and a car $7,500. Luckily the ATM was also invented. Doctors performed the first heart transplant while a group of people with big hearts and helping hands opened the Neshaminy Activity Center. And, the num-ber one song on the radio was Georgie Girl. Also, we have a covered dish coming up. If you haven’t joined us yet, please do. It’s always delicious, and it’s great to socialize while sharing our favorite dishes. And get ready for our annual costume competition at our Halloween Party on October 31st. It’s never to ear-ly to start planning you costume...even if you’re still busy whistling and singing Georgie Girl. Paula

We want to thank Theresa Fisher for her work as President these last two years. She has done a great job and will still be around helping to keep things running smoothly. A word of thanks to all of our faithful members! We appreciate your standing by us while we stretch the budget as far a possible. We are grateful for your extra donations of money and supplies. Robin’s Remarks The Seasons are not all that is changing this fall. I am actively working with several contractors, the Township and Bucks County Community College to utilize our Grant for interior renovations, new signage, computers, new technology, and new Inter-generational programming. I would like to have renovations completed before the 50th Anniversary Celebration. You will not want to miss this one, get your tickets before they sell out, Paula and I look forward to seeing you there.

I have received several comments from people in the community, regarding how nice our Center looks. A heartfelt thanks to Larry and Bill for their donations of flowers and limitless time they volunteer to weed water and keep the outside gardens manicured and so well maintained. They treat our Center like it is their own, please let them know they are appreciated and not taken for granted. As I struggle to balance the budget and come up with new ideas to generate funds to cover costs, I appreciate all the cooperation, support and donations we have received. As always it is an ongoing and challenging quest to keep things running. Last but not least I am proud to report the Audit was completed by the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging and we received a 98%! Categories were: Physical Site, Operations, Safety, Programming, Policies and Procedures, Personnel, Senior Center Board and Fiscal. Special thanks to Loretta, Larry, the Board, and my outstanding office staff that work so hard to make this a wonderful Center. Remember – Research shows that joining and participating in a Center lengthens and improves the quality of life!
