Telling Part
Every complete sentence has two parts: naming part
and telling part
• The naming part is the who (or what) the sentence is about.
• The telling part tells what the subject does.
Judy and her dog run on the beach every
day.• Who? • What do they do?

To Find the Telling Part:
• Ask what does it do?• Find the verb (action or
linking)• Draw a vertical line before the
verb• The telling part is the rest of
the sentence.
