TPTL for NBSS 8.1x

TPTL (logical block only)

Relationship: 2542 = 4 watts at DPM antenna port

Goal: maintain desired overall FRM gain between the digital input and the DPM ouptut

Observation: •All Sector should have same SectorTxPower readings (within TPTL accuracy)•TxPowerTrm readings will vary between sectors

TPTL for NBSS 9.x

TPTL (logical block only)

Relationship: 2542 = 20% of Max PAM power at the PAM output

Goal: maintain desired overall FRM gain between the digital input and the PAM ouptut

Observations:• All Sector should have same TxPowerTrm readings (within TPTL accuracy)•SectorTxPower will vary from sector to sector based on different DPM loss

Given:

1900 Max PAM power = 15.6 W1900 typical DPM TX insertion loss = 0.45 dB

800 Max PAM power = 21.5 W 800 typical DPM TX insertion loss = 0.37 dB

Case 1 – 1900 MHz Metro cell

In NBSS 8.13 2542 = 4 watts or 36 dBm at the output of the DPM

In NBSS 9.x 2542 = 20% of 15.6 watts = 3.12 watts or 34.94 dBm at the output of the PAM.2542 = 34.94 dBm – 0.45 dB = 34.49 dBm at the output of the DPM

delta = 36 dBm – 34.49 dBm = 1.51 dBTPTLTargetPowerOffset required to match NBSS 8.13 power levels = 1.51*16 = 24 units

Case 2 – 800 MHz Metro cell

In NBSS 8.13 2542 = 4 watts or 36 dBm at the output of the DPM

In NBSS 9.x 2542 = 20% of 21.5 watts = 4.3 watts or 36.33 dBm at the output of the PAM.2542 = 36.33 dBm – 0.35 dB = 35.98 dBm at the output of the DPM

delta = 36 dBm – 35.98 dBm = 0.015 dBTPTLTargetPowerOffset required to match NBSS 8.13 power levels = 0.015*16 = 0 units

Comparing TPTL between NBSS8.1x and NBSS 9.x

Page 5: Telus TPTL

What changed?:The overall target gain of the TRM changed in NBSS 9.x

Why?:To re-center the target gain of the TRM. This will ensure that the TxChannelizer is optimized at full rated power.

Impact:•No impact on performance•Analog attenuator value might be different between NBSS8.1 and NBSS 9.x•TXAttenTPTL will have a different value, between NBSS8.1 and NBSS9.x, for the same configuration
