COVID-19 Temporary Worker Program The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training (DLT) received a Disaster National Dislocated Worker Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to fund approximately 43,000 hours of temporary labor for local businesses and employers providing essential services during this period of national emergency. Utilization of this program will come at little to no cost to employers. DLT has partnered with Skills for Rhode Island’s Future (SkillsRI) to assist in the implementation of this program. Key Program Features • Employers may submit more than one position/location request based on need • SkillsRI will be the employer of record • SkillsRI will pay hourly wages of $18-$23/hour • Temp Staff will undergo background checks and drug screenings if required for the position/assignment • Temp Staff will be matched to job opportunities based on skills, experience and scheduling availability • No fees or costs are associated with employer participation A request for temporary staffing services is not guaranteed. If approved for program participation by DLT, employers will need to complete an Employer/Confidentiality Agreement and Client Safety Checklist with SkillsRI. Participating employers will also receive training to utilize Deputy, the online platform SkillsRI will be using to schedule shifts and process timesheets.
