  • February 9, 2014 M.Ed., Higher Education Program Loyola University Chicago, School of Education 820 N. Michigan Chicago, Illinois 60611 To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing on behalf of Tempris Daniels, whom I have gotten the opportunity to know as a friend and colleague throughout my tenure at Loyola University Chicago. Tempriss extensive background in student programming paired with her knowledge of leadership theory and dedication to social justice makes her an ideal representation of the M.Ed in Higher Education program at Loyola University Chicago. Not only does Tempris comprehend leadership theory and the importance of significant learning environments, but she also is able to integrate that knowledge into her work within student affairs. During a year-long position with the Higher Education Student Association (HESA) I was able to work with Tempris as co-chair for the Events Committee. Throughout our time together Tempris demonstrated a deep understanding for the importance of building community and collegiality amongst our co-hort. Her organizational skills kept our events on time and running smoothly and her welcoming personality and kind spirit drew various members of our program together to create an impactful experience. Throughout any planning or implementation process for HESA Tempris was always willing to offer ideas in a meaningful and respectful manner and incorporate feedback to make every event as successful as possible. Working as her co-chair, I found myself consistently supported and motivated to be a better leader and programmer personally and professionally. In addition to working with Tempris on the Events Committee for HESA, I was able to work with her in a semester-long group project for a Curriculum Development in Higher Education course. A natural leader, Tempris took initiative to talk through various ideas and strategies in order to complete the project on time. Tempriss ability to provide feedback in a constructive manner on various aspects of the project allowed each group member to feel valued and respected while simultaneously motivated to work hard and complete the project. I highly recommend Tempris Daniels to the field of Higher Education for various reasons. As a professional, she displays qualities that will not only touch the lives of the students she works with, but help them transform into better citizens, students, and leaders. As a peer, Tempris has done nothing but support and encourage others to work hard and to do their best. As a friend, Tempris has shown me what it truly means to devote yourself to empowering and impacting others and the importance of being a servant leader. It is an honor to have been able to work with Tempris in various capacities throughout my time in the program, and I am confident that she will continue to greatly impact any person who is lucky enough to work with her. Sincerely, Allison Schipma M.Ed Candidate, Higher Education, Loyola University Chicago
