ACTION: Battle of the Bands vs. 3 other bands. Pick 3 of the Matrix Band Cards – if one or more of the other players are in California, they will battle you and replace a Matrix Band Card each.

HOW: Flip the coin. If 1, you pick 3 members of your band to battle, if 2, the player to your right randomly picks 3 of your members. If other players participate, you randomly pick their 3*.

THE BATTLE: Count the sum of the stars on the primary instrument of the selected band members (only one on each instrument) and compare with the other bands in the battle. You are the 4th member and have 5 quality stars in vocal. The highest win, the rest lose.

WINNER GETS*: 1 Track Card, 3 Image Balls and 1 Quality BallLoser gets: 5 Black Balls

*Each player can only participate once. If even, the player calling the battle wins.

It’s 1969. Your parents just left for California in search of a better life. You are 19 and left in small town Freehold with a few bucks and a guitar. And the whole life in front of you. Scary and exiting. You only have one dream; a life of ROCK ’N ROLL…. as one of the GREATEST. You have a notable talent and an untamable will.

Elvis paved the way, but New Jersey is in the BOONDOCKS – New York City is a million miles away and nobody passes by New Jersey to spot the next star. But you want it badly. After staying in your parents’ house for a month with some friends, turning the place into a pigsty, the landlord finally kicks you out.

Your first step is to go to the boardwalk town of Asbury Park where an arising rock ’n roll community is developing. This is the place to hone your talent, meet fellow die-hard rock ’n roll musicians, form a band and with a bit of luck get that breakthrough?

Requirements for ALL participants: 3 band members on different instruments and 3 played gigs.

Only players who are in Asbury Park, Freehold or Belmar participate (they stay where they are). Players who have already won the battle, don’t participate.

ACTION: The one calling the battle gets to choose 3 Band Cards (on different instruments) and 3 Track Cards for the battle. After that the player randomly picks 3 Band Cards and 3 Track Cards from the other players in the battle - which they bring to the battle. If the 3 Band Cards are not covering 3 different instruments, one (or more) card is dropped for the battle.

HOW: A) Take the average number of the quality stars of your 3 band members on different instruments - one instrument for each (if eg. 4.4 you round down to 4, if 4.5 round up to 5). *B) Take the average number of the stars of your 3 Track Cards (round up/down if needed). *

If you have the Fender Telecaster guitar add 2 points. Also, add a point for each of your Hit Stars and of the Legendary Stars on certain band members.

A+B = The player with the highest number wins the battle. If even the one calling the battle wins. If still even flip the coin.

Winner gets the BATTLE OF THE BANDS Card.

*If some players have less than 3 Band Cards or 3 Track Cards they take the average stars of the cards they have.
