To provide the data acquisition and data logging components for Oil States' Tendon Tension Monitoring System (TTMS) to be deployed on oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. The TTMS measures tension and bending in the tendons used to anchor oil platforms to the ocean floor; a critical safety component ensuring that the tendons remain structurally sound. The Challenge The Solution PVI Systems developed the software for the new TTMS system, including the user interface, data acquisition and data logging components. Each tendon is outfitted with measurement sensor devices monitoring strain on each tendon. Each measurement device transmits data to the PVI data collection and distribution system, which computes the tension and bending in the tendon, displays this information to the operator, and publishes this information to the platform's database server.
