November 28, 2012 Dear Parents, Student Members, and Friends: We would like to extend our warmest greetings to all of you for a happy and healthy holiday seasons! The coming year of 2013 marks the 45th Anniversary of Tenshinkai Aikido Federation (1968-2013). This milestone also marks the 55th Anniversary of Aikido first introduced to Vietnam (1958-2013) and the 25th Anniversary of Westminster Aikikai Dojo (1988-2013). In brief, the following chronicles over a half of a century the history of Tenshinkai Aikido: - Sensei Dang Thong Tri, the older brother of Sensei Dang Thong Phong, who returned to Vietnam from France in
1958, first introduced and pioneered the establishment of Aikido in Vietnam. Sensei Dang Thong Phong, who was trained under his older brother and Sensei Mutsuro Nakazono, further developed Aikido in Vietnam after Sensei Tri moved to California in 1964 to teach at the Defense Language Institute.
- In 1967, Sensei Phong obtained Sandan/Third degree black belt at Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan. In January 1968, Hombu Dojo, by then under O’Sensei and Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba, officially recognized Tenshinkai Aikido Federation as an official aikido chapter of Vietnam and designated Sensei Phong to lead.
- In 1986 Sensei Phong reunited with his family and settled in California. Two years later, Sensei Phong established the Westminster Aikikai Dojo in the City of Westminster. Tenshinkai Aikido Federation was also re-established and was later re-recognized by Hombu Dojo in 1991 as an independent federation in the US.
Throughout the years both in Vietnam and abroad, the federation has flourished and trained generations of aikidokas with many affiliated dojos in the United States, Canada, and Vietnam. The success of Tenshinkai Aikido is attributed to the dedication of Sensei Dang Thong Phong and to the devotion of many members of the federation. In celebrating these remarkable milestones, we earnestly request your support and participation in planning and preparation for the following activities: - February 3, 2013: Tết Celebration at Westminster Aikikai Dojo including a fundraising raffle with many
valuable prizes to help with the expense of this celebration. - February 16, 2013: A special Aikido Seminar with Aikikai Shihan Tomohiro Mori of Hombu Dojo, Tokyo,
Japan, and Sensei Dang Thong Phong. Please refer to seminar flyer for more detail. - February 17, 2013: The 45th Anniversary Ceremony will take place at Saigon Performing Arts Center in
Fountain Valley, California. - Anniversary Book: Please see attached information sheet to submit your writing and sponsorship opportunities.
The deadline for submitting is December 30th, 2012. - Get involved: We do need your help to make this event a memorable one. Please fill out the attached form so we

November 28, 2012 Kính gởi Quý Phụ Huynh, Môn Sinh và Thân Hữu của Tenshinkai Aikido Trước hết chúng tôi gởi lời cầu chúc tốt đẹp nhất đến quý vị trong mùa lễ đang đến. Năm 2013 sắp tới, Tổng cuộc Tenshinkai Aikido sẽ tổ chức kỷ niệm 45 năm thành lập (1968-2013); đồng thời kỷ niệm 55 năm Aikido du nhập vào Việt Nam (1958-2013), và cũng là 25 năm thành lập Đạo đường Westminster Aikikai (1988-2013) ở California, Hoa Kỳ. Qua hơn nửa thế kỷ, những nét chính về sự thành hình của Aikido Việt Nam như sau: - Aikido tại Vi ệt Nam bắt đầu vào năm 1958 khi Thầy Đặng Thông Trị du học từ Pháp trở về Việt Nam và
tiên phong giới thiệu bộ môn này trong nước. Thầy Đặng Thông Phong tập luyện Aikido với người anh của mình và Võ sư Mutsuro Nakazano. Vào năm 1964, Thầy Phong được ủy thác tiếp nối phát triển bộ môn này sau khi Thầy Trị qua California để dạy học.
- Vào năm 1967, Thầy Phong đạt được huyền đai tam đẳng trong chuyến đi qua Nhật để tập luyện tại Tổng Đàn Aikido Thế Giới (Hombu Dojo). Đầu năm 1968, Thầy Phong đã được Tổ sư Ueshiba và Đạo chủ Kisshomaru bổ nhiệm đứng đầu Tổng Cuộc Thiên Tâm Hội Hiệp Khí Đạo (Tenshinkai Aikido Federation) là chi nhánh Aikido chính thức của nước Việt Nam.
- Năm 1986, Thầy Phong đoàn tụ với gia đình và định cư tại California. Hai năm sau đó, năm 1988, Đạo đường Westminster Aikikai được thành lập tại Hạt Orange. Tổng cuộc Tenshinkai Aikido hoạt động trở lại và được Tổng Đàn Aikido Thế Giới tái công nhận là một Tổng cuộc độc lập tại Hoa Kỳ vào năm 1991.
Trải qua nhiều thập niên từ trong nước đến hải ngoại, Tổng cuộc Tenshinkai Aikido đã đào tạo nhiều thế hệ môn sinh cùng lúc phát triển với nhiều đạo đường chi nhánh tại Hoa Kỳ, Canada, và Việt Nam.
Để chuNn bị cho lễ kỷ niệm này, chúng tôi rất mong sự hỗ trợ và đóng góp của quý vị trong các hoạt động sắp tới như sau: - Chủ nhật 3 tháng 2, 2013: Mừng Tết Nguyên Đán tại đạo đường Westminster Aikikai, có phần xổ số gây quỹ

Thông Phong phụ trách. (xin xem thông báo). - Chủ nhật 17, tháng 2, 2013: Lễ Kỷ Niệm 45 Năm Thành Lập Tổng Cuộc sẽ được tổ chức tại Saigon
