PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Parishioners,
As we move into summer at IC and I prepare for my move to St. Edward Parish I
want to take the opportunity to thank all who helped to organize the celebration
on Sunday May 20th. I was a wonderful time for all who were present. I am particu-
larly grateful to the parish staff, the parish council and the parish finance council
and in particular Kristin Muntean and Marvin Sabido. The beautiful Pattarino wall
plaque of the Blessed Mother will hang prominently in my office at St. Edward.
Below is some more detailed introduction to Barb Ciegelski who returns to IC as Di-
rector of Religious Education and Gina Masland who will continue to work with the parish music
program. Please be sure to offer them welcome and support during these summer months of parish
transition.
Fr. Mike McMahon will arrive during the last week of June and offer the Sunday Masses on the weekend
of June 30 - July 1.
Blessings,
Father Anderson
Pastor
Gina Lyden Masland graduated from Barat College of the Sacred Heart, in
Theater and Music. She consideres herself so fortunate she has had a varied
musical career, from leading choirs in three continents, to being a musical di-
rector for productions in Summerstage In Leonia, The Players Guild in Leonia,
and The Citadel Theater in Lake Forest. She has led many congregations in
music ministry, including Sts. Peter and Paul in Hoboken, NJ, St. John the
Evangelist, Leonia, NJ and both Immaculate Conception in Cape Town, SA
and right here in Highland Park. Most recently, she has been at St. James in
Highwood. She is an award winning composer, and currently working on a
musical with collaborators she adores.
Barb Cegielski is excited to be returning to IC as PREP Director! Her 30 year
career with the Archdiocese has included teaching, administration, and reli-
gious education mostly in Winnetka and Wadsworth. Before becoming assis-
tant principal at Faith, Hope and Charity, Barb taught 2nd grade there and
knows how special it is to begin ones sacramental journey through Reconcilia-
tion and the Eucharist. She looks forward to continuing this journey with our
students, parents, catechists, and parish family.
Currently, Barb teaches in Glencoe. She and her husband live in Lake Forest with their 2 golden retriev-
ers and golden doodle. They currently are parishioners at St. Patrick Parish, love outdoor sports, enjoy
volunteer work and time in Door County.

Please Make Your Gift to the 2018
Annual Catholic Appeal “Come, Follow Me”
Many families in our parish will be receiving the Annual Catholic
Appeal request mailing from Cardinal Cupich. On behalf of those
served by the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you
for your gifts. Please return your response as soon as possible.
The ACA offers a wonderful opportunity to answer Jesus’ call to
“Come, Follow Me.”
As we contemplate God’s many gifts to us, we should also reflect on
our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our
Parish, our Archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is, in
fact, one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the
2018 Annual Catholic Appeal.
When our parish reaches its goal of $30,443 in paid pledges, 100% of
additional funds will be returned to us for use in our Parish.
