Term 2 - Important Dates to Remember
Term 3 - Important Dates to Remember
A note from the Principal
Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle for Week 8, Term 2.
It is lovely to see settled and engaged classrooms as I walk around the school. The teachers are busy evaluating and assessing student’s work, and then writing student reports.
I have also been happy to see children picking up rubbish without being asked to do so…a wonderful example of showing pride in our school.
Junior AECG On Tuesday Joshua and Daniel represented Clairgate PS at the Junior AECG meeting at Blackwell PS. Joshua spoke about the activities we completed about reconciliation and also about some activities we will complete for NAIDOC. Mrs Tegjeu was very proud of both boys.
Reports Our teachers are busily writing their mid-year reports on your children. These reports will be handed out at the end of week 10 (Friday, 5th July). If you have any concerns about these reports I would encourage you to seek an appointment with the teacher in the first instance to discuss this.
Enrol now for Kindergarten – 2020 If your child is turning 5 years of age before the 31st July 2020, they can enrol at Clairgate PS for 2020. Please collect an enrolment form from the front office and return it as soon as possible. Proof of age is required – original birth certificate or passport, as is your child’s immunisation certificate and proof of residence. Please ask if you require support to complete any part of this form.
Leave I will be away for the last 2 weeks of school and leave the school in the capable hands of Mrs McInally and the executive team. Thanks everyone, hope you have a kind fortnight.
Regards,
Mrs Michelle Lawrow Principal

Cross Country Assembly
Clairgate’s annual Cross Country Assembly was held in
our school hall last week. All place ribbons and major
trophies were presented. Well done to all the students
who competed at the carnival. It was the highest

the following superstars who received the major
awards this year:
Junior Girl Champion: Hannah Simpson
Junior Boy Champion: Jason Jackson
Senior Girl Champion: Jessey Bektas
Senior Boy Champion: Billy Higgins
Champion House Team: McKay

State Knockout Boys Soccer
Congratulations to Mrs Judge’s victorious State KO Boys
Soccer Team who defeated a gallant Pitt Town PS (5-0)
last week. This win means that the boys now advance
to Round 5 of the NSW State Knockout competition.
This is a wonderful achievement and probably the
furthest any Clairgate Soccer team has gone in this
prestigious competition. Mr Blanch was extremely
proud of every player’s skill, fitness and sportsmanship
during the game. A huge thank you to Jalay Bell
(Trainer) and all the wonderful parents who helped with
transport and cheered on our team.
The following students played their hearts out on the
day. Matthew Bell, Nathan Jenkins, Joshua McGeorge,
Jye Kosorukow, Luke Saker, Nestor Daliardos,

Happy Week Eight Everyone,
Today I am including a couple of graphics. The first one is about daily attendance and the other
lateness. At Clairgate, we have noticed that late arrivals are becoming problematic. These graphics
show how this time affects the children in terms of their learning.
Arriving to school on time is vital for your learning as every minute counts. Students who arrive
on time and have excellent attendance will show results of successful learning.
If you absent whole days ….. If you are late…..
I would also like to introduce the Kindness Corner to you. As part of our anti-bullying program,
Kindness On Purpose, Semester Two’s newsletters will include the Kindness Corner. This will be a
part of the school newsletter where we highlight ideas and distribute strategies to inspire our
entire school community to get involved with social change that promotes kindness, acceptance,
and inclusion.
This will be the page logo. Keep an eye out for it in
the Term Three and Four Newsletters.
At the end of today’s newsletter there is a Kindness Catcher Chatterbox attached for you to print.
This is a super fun activity that will provide ideas for being kind at school. Have your child colour it
in and use it as a fun tool at home, and school, to promote kindness.
Yours in Education,
Mrs Lisa McInally
What’s On at Penrith Observatory in July 2019 Date: Saturday 6 July 2019 Event name: Public Astronomy Night: The Astronomy and Navigation of Aboriginal Australians Event details: Speaker – Prof. Ray Norris Aboriginal people in Australia have a rich astronomical tradition such as the "Emu in the Sky" constellation of dark clouds, and stories about the Sun, Moon, and stars, revealing a great depth and complexity of pre-contact Aboriginal cultures. Not only did they know the sky intimately, but they were familiar with planetary motions, tides, and eclipses. Their songs and stories show that Aboriginal Australians sought to understand their Universe in a similar way to modern science. They used this knowledge of the sky to construct calendars, songlines, and other navigational tools, enabling them to navigate across the country, trading artefacts and sacred stories. Includes presentation, short 3D movie, tour of the dome and viewing of the night sky through a range of telescopes (weather permitting). $18.00 Adult $12.00 Child/Concession $50.00 Family (2 adults + 2 children) Children under 3 years of age free.
