Term 3 Week 8 Thursday, 12 September 2019
Kindergarten Orientation During term 4 weeks 1-3 we will be hosting our 2020 Kindergarten students and their families for three Kindergarten orientation visits. We look forward to this exciting time. Could we ask any parents who have students starting school next year who have not yet contacted the school office, to do so this week please.
PSSA Winter Sport Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the PSSA Winter sport programmes. Good luck to teams in next week’s grand finals and a special congratulations to our Touch Football Teams who were successful in winning both the junior and senior competitions last week. See our Sporting Achievements for detailed reports on the final series.
Principal Network Awards Congratulations to Mrs Sharon Cook and Mrs Kim Lazarevic who were both recently recognised at the Principal Network awards. Both carry out invaluable work at our school and provide pivotal support to our students.
Jump We have recently had some of our Year 5 students participating in the JUMP program. The JUMP program is a Mentoring Program where students work with students from Holsworthy High School in a variety of activities. Thank you to Mrs Alderton and Mrs Lazarevic for supporting our students engaging in this program.
White Balloon Day This week students participated in White Balloon Day a BRAVEHEARTS initiative. In conjunction with their Child Protection lessons students spent some time exploring our theme this year. “I have the courage to Speak Up!” All students have been encouraged to have a voice and speak up when they are unsure

Enrolments 2020 It is that time of year again where the school has to start planning for next year. It is extremely important that we have accurate information about enrolment numbers for 2020, as this impacts staffing levels, class formations and classrooms required. I ask that anyone who knows that their children are not returning to Wattle Grove next year please contact the school office.
ICAS 2019 The past couple of weeks have seen our students participating in the ICAS UNSW Testing. This year the platform shifted to an online system. The students have handled the change to the online testing with ease. We will advise parents when results are available to be accessed online.
LOST PROPERTY This is a timely reminder that as we begin moving towards warmer weather, students are removing layers of jackets and jumpers throughout the day. Please ensure all items of school clothing are clearly labelled. Our lost property basket is overflowing with uniform pieces, some of which are brand new. There are also a number of lunch boxes, drink bottles and containers left in the playground each afternoon. If you would like to check the lost property, it is located near the hall and Scooter racks at the front of the school gates.
P&C Reminder The next P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th September 2019 (Week 9), commencing at 7pm in the staffroom. We hope to see as many members as possible from our school community.
Swim Scheme Our swimmers have been busy this week participating in the School Swimming and Water Safety Program. Each day the students have been taking lessons and developing their skills in the pool at the Whitlam Centre. Congratulations to all students who have had a very successful week. A special thank you to Miss Kabriel, Mrs Brook and Mrs Lazarevic.
Superkids with Miss Cameron Thank you to all the Super Kids for being the great students you are! I had a lovely time celebrating with you all! The sun was out and everyone was happy.
Have a fabulous week!

A big congratulations to all the students who competed at the Zone Athletics Carnival. Everyone’s amazing effort meant we were named the champion school, having gained the most points for both girls and boys against 12 other schools! We also had two students who were named age champion – Junior Boys, Antonio and Senior Girls, Mikaylah, which was an amazing effort as was the fact that 4 of our students broke 5 zone records – see below for these details. With 25 students competing at the Regional carnival, it will be one of our biggest teams ever. Top 3 results at the carnival are below. The top 2 students go to region together with the top 3 for the 100m and 200m. Good luck at Region to all students. Please refer to back pages for results
Junior B Netball Congratulations to all the girls in my team for an amazing season. Undefeated throughout the whole competition until the semi-final (ouch), we really did
have a tremendous season where every player grew and developed so much and really played as a team. You were all great sports and I enjoyed being your coach. Thank you to the parents and grandparents that came each week to support and score, that was very much appreciated. Jan Bartram
